Climate change dominance shifting China’s semi-arid/semi-humid boundary since 1961
Purpose The 400 mm isohyet, as the boundary between semi-humid and semi-arid regions, has severe spatiotemporal variations that inevitably generate a series of economic, social and ecological impacts. However, traditional studies primarily measured the coarse variations (latitude and longitude) of the 400 mm isohyet. Due to the complexity and variability of annual isohyet fluctuations, finescale changes (multidirection and magnitude) remain diffi…
Cartography and Neural Networks
Propelled by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and deep learning, the essence and scope of cartography have significantly expanded. The rapid progress in neuroscience has raised high expectations for related disciplines, furnishing theoretical support for revealing and deepening the essence of maps. In this study, CiteSpace was used to examine the confluence of cartography and neural networks over the past decade (2013–2023), …
Road Network Intelligent Selection Method Based on Heterogeneous Graph Attention Neural Network
Selecting road networks in cartographic generalization has consistently posed formidable challenges, driving research toward the application of intelligent models. Despite previous efforts, the accuracy and connectivity preservation in these studies, particularly when dealing with road types of similar sample sizes, still warrant improvement. To address these shortcomings, we introduce a Heterogeneous Graph Attention Network (HAN) for road select…
Simulation of wetland distribution in the Yellow River Basin based on an improved Markov-FLUS model
Wetlands, as a regulator of water cycle and balance, play a key role in preventing flood and drought disasters and protecting biodiversity. The Yellow River Basin is an important ecological barrier and economic zone in our country. By predicting the distribution of wetland landscape and evaluating its evolutionary characteristics, strategies for wetland conservation and utilization in the Yellow River Basin can be formulated. Future land use simu…
The Drinking Game in The Dream of the Red Chamber
In this paper, I examine the drinking game of lot-drawing as a prophetic device in the novel The Dream of the Red Chamber ( Honglou meng 紅樓夢 ) and a pastiche of it called Shanghai dust ( Haishang chentian ying 海上塵天影 ). In both works, the outcome of the drinking game proves to be prophetic signs that reveal the personalities and foretell the future fates of the participating players. Unlike the other portents featuring in the novels, which tend to…
Spatial Characteristics Analysis for Coupling Strength among Air Pollutants during a Severe Haze Period in Zhengzhou, China
This paper investigates the multifractal characteristics of six air pollutants using the coupling detrended fluctuation analysis method. The results show that coupling correlations exist among the air pollutants and have multifractal characteristics. The sources of multifractality are identified using the chi square test. The coupling strengths between different pollutants are quantified. In addition, the coupling contribution of a series in the …

Topology Conflict Detection Considering Incremental Updating of Multi-Scale Road Networks
Incremental updating is an important technical method used to maintain the data of road networks. Topology conflict detection of multiscale road networks in incremental updating is an important link. Most of the previous algorithms focus on a single scale road network, which cannot be applied to topology conflict detection for different scale road networks during incremental updating. Therefore, this study proposes a topology conflict detection a…
