Mediating effects of patient safety perception and willingness to participate in patient safety on the relationship between health literacy and patient participation behavior among inpatients
Introduction: In recent years, patient safety activities have shifted from being centered on healthcare providers to involving patients themselves. Health literacy of inpatients has a direct impact on patient participation behavior. Patient safety perception was also associated with willingness to participate in patient safety and patient participation behavior. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the mediating effects of patient safety pe…
Mediating Effects of Rehabilitation Motivation between Social Support and Health-Related Quality of Life among Patients with Stroke
Post-stroke health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is poor, which is related to low social support levels and lack of rehabilitation motivation. However, there are limited studies that have systematically analyzed the mechanisms underlying this relationship in stroke patients. This study aimed to identify the mediating effects of rehabilitation motivation on the relationship between social support and HRQoL among stroke patients. A cross-sectiona…
Sex Differences in the Association between Atrial Fibrillation and 90-Day Adverse Outcomes among Older Adults with Heart Failure
Sex differences in the prognostic impact of coexisting atrial fibrillation (AF) in older patients with heart failure (HF) have not been well-studied. This study, therefore, compared sex differences in the association between AF and its 90-day adverse outcomes (hospital readmissions and emergency room (ER) visits) among older adults with HF. Of the 250 older adult patients, the prevalence rates of coexisting AF between male and female HF patients …
Trend Analysis of Patient Safety Incidents and Their Associated Factors in Korea Using National Patient Safety Report Data (2017~2019)
This study analyzed trends in patient safety incidents (PSIs) and the factors associated with the PSIs by analyzing 2017-2019 Patient Safety Report data in Korea. We extracted 2940 records in 2017, 5889 in 2018, and 7386 in 2019, from hospitals with more than 200 beds, and used all 16,215 cases for analysis. SPSS 25.0 was used for a multi-nominal logistic regression analysis. The PSI trend analysis, the standardized Jonckheere-Terpstra test was s…
Impact of Physical Activity and Sleep Duration on Depressive Symptoms in Hypertensive Patients
Depressive symptoms among individuals with hypertension may increase the risk of cardio-cerebrovascular disease, disease burden, and mortality. However, few studies have examined the relationships among physical activity, sleep duration, and depressive symptoms. Thus, this cross-sectional study examined the associations of physical activity and sleep duration with depressive symptoms in individuals with hypertension. We analyzed data collected as…
Combined Influence of Depression and Physical Frailty on Cognitive Impairment in Patients with Heart Failure
Cognitive impairment is a prevalent condition and important barrier to self-care behaviors in patients with heart failure (HF). HF patients with depression or physical frailty are more likely to have reduced cognitive function. However, it remains unclear if combined depression and physical frailty increased the risk of cognitive impairments among HF populations. This study aimed to identify the influence of combined depression and physical frail…
