The Relationship between Change of Weight and Chronic Low Back Pain in Population over 50 Years of Age
Weight gain is significantly associated with chronic LBP and, in particular, the greater the amount of weight gain, the stronger the association with an increased risk of chronic LBP. Clinicians should carefully monitor weight gain in LBP patients
Nationwide Cross-Sectional Study of the Association between Knee Pain and Weight Change
The knee is a hinge joint that provides stability and control, which are essential in daily life. Obesity is a major cause of knee pain and its incidence continues to increase worldwide. In this study, we analyzed Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data on the general population, and showed an association between weight change and knee pain. A total of 22,948 participants were enrolled; those under the age of 50 and those who …

Chronic knee pain (CKP) can degrade the quality of life and cause dysfunction, resulting in the loss of independence. Psychological stress not only affects physical and mental health but is also a risk factor for CKP. In this cross-sectional study, we analyzed data from the sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2013-2015), and investigated the association between CKP and psychological stress of the Korean general populatio…
Association between Relative Handgrip Strength and Chronic Lower Back Pain
Lower back pain (LBP) is the most common musculoskeletal complaint and significantly reduces the quality of life. Muscle weakness is a major cause of LBP. Handgrip strength (HGS) is widely used to determine general muscle strength. Relative HGS (RHGS) incorporates body mass and provides a more accurate estimation of muscle strength and health status. We analyzed the data from Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to investigate t…
