  • Global prevalence and associated risk factors of work-related musculoskeletal disorders among steelworkers

Open Access•Yanxiang Lan, Xingxin Zhan et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Background: The prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) among steelworkers is high due to occupational exposures including high temperatures, vibrating tools, and intense physical loads. Given the varying prevalence estimates and associated risk factors of WMSDs among existing studies and the lack of a meta-analysis dedicated specifically to steelworkers, this meta-analysis aimed to comprehensively evaluate the prevalence of …

  • A virtual reality-based multimodal framework for adolescent depression screening using machine learning

Open Access•Yizhen Wu, Yan Qiao et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2025

The proposed VR-based multimodal system identified robust physiological biomarkers associated with adolescent MDD and demonstrated strong diagnostic performance. These findings support the utility of immersive, sensor-integrated platforms in early mental health screening and intervention. Future work may explore integrating the proposed multimodal system into wearable or mobile platforms for scalable, real-world mental health screening

  • Covid-19 Shock and the Time-Varying Volatility Spillovers Among the Energy and Precious Metals Markets

Open Access•Xiaoyu Tan, Wang Xuetong et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

The outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic intensified the volatility of commodity markets (the energy and precious metals markets), which created a significant negative impact on the volatility spillovers among these markets. It may also have triggered a new volatility risk contagion. In this paper, we introduce the DCC-GARCH-CONNECTEDNESS approach to explore the volatility spillover level and multi-level spillover structure characteristics among the…

  • The Dynamic Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on Stock Returns

Open Access•Xiaoyu Tan, Shiqun Ma et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly and negatively impacted the global stock markets. Hence, we investigated the time-varying impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on stock returns during the period from January 27, 2020 to December 23, 2021 using the TVP-VAR-SV model and used G7 countries as our research sample. Our results imply that (i) the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has a significant negative impact on stock returns, but the impact decreases …

  • Effects of Restorative Environment and Presence on Anxiety and Depression Based on Interactive Virtual Reality Scenarios

Open Access•Zhimeng Wang, Yue Li et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Anxiety and depression have been growing global mental health problems. The following studies explored the effect of interactive VR scenarios to find a low-cost and high-efficiency solution. Study 1 designed a 2 (anxiety and depression state) × 4 (interactive VR scenarios) experiment, the results of 20 participants showed that the designed scenarios had good restoration and presence, assisting to improve depression mood for people with mild to mo…

  • The Effect of Virtual-Reality-Based Restorative Environments on Creativity

Open Access•Hongqidi Li, Xueyan Du et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

This study, based on the theory of restorative environmental, uses virtual reality (VR) technology to construct interactive restorative environments and discusses the influence of the experience of virtual restorative environment on individual creativity. A total of 72 college students were selected as participants in the study. Through psychological scales, three creativity tests, and EEG feedback data, the following conclusions were drawn: (1) …

  • Effect of a Virtual Reality-Based Restorative Environment on the Emotional and Cognitive Recovery of Individuals with Mild-to-Moderate Anxiety and Depression

Open Access•Hongqidi Li, Wenyi Dong et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

In this study, restorative environment theory and virtual reality (VR) technology were combined to build different 3D dynamic VR interactive scenes. We discuss the effects of a VR restorative environment on the emotional and cognitive recovery of individuals with mild-to-moderate anxiety and depression. First, we built a VR restorative garden scene, divided into four areas: forest, lawn, horticultural planting, and water features. The scene was v…
