  • The impact of energy-dense food consumption on brain responses to alcohol rewards

Open Access•Emily Giddens, Trevor Steward et al.•ARTICLE•Appetite•2026•References: 72

Overconsumption of alcohol and energy-dense, palatable foods commonly co-occur, and are both characterised by overlapping impairments in reward circuitry function. Elevated consumption of energy-dense foods may increase risk of alcohol binging through sensitising brain responsivity to alcohol rewards, thereby increasing the motivating effects of alcohol consumption. However, the acute effects of dietary intake on brain responses to alcohol in hum…

  • Hormonal Profile in Response to an Empathic Induction Task in Perpetrators of Intimate Partner Violence

    Open Access•Javier Comes‐Fayos, Ángel Romero‐martínez et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Empathy deficits have been proposed to be an important factor for intimate partner violence (IPV). IPV perpetrators have shown a differential change in salivary oxytocin (sOXT), testosterone (sT), and cortisol (sC), following empathic and stress tasks, compared to non-violent men. However, the influence of empathic deficits in those hormones after an emotion-induction task in IPV perpetrators remains unclear. We analyzed the effects of an empathi…

  • Hormonal Differences in Intimate Partner Violence Perpetrators When They Cope with Acute Stress

    Open Access•Ángel Romero‐martínez, M Carmen Blanco-Gandía et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

These data present a background showing that IPVAW perpetrators and non-violent men cope differently with stress. These findings might help to identify idiosyncratic profiles of IPVAW perpetrators that can then be employed to establish their therapeutic needs. Moreover, we reinforced the importance of combining biological markers with self-reports, thus increasing the reliability of these forensic assessments

  • Understanding the Influence of Eating Patterns on Binge Drinking

    Open Access•Tamara Escrivá‐Martínez, Laura Galiana et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

These findings point to the need to use a broader approach in understanding and preventing binge drinking in the youth population by showing the influence of the eating pattern on this problem. This information could be helpful in preventing future behaviors and improving interventions that address health risk behaviors

  • Antiaggressive and motor effects of the DA release inhibitor CGS 10746B

    Open Access•C M Felip, M Rodríguez‐Arias et al.•ARTICLE•Aggressive Behavior•2001•Cited by: 1•References: 23

In the present study the effects of a wide range of doses of the dopamine release inhibitor CGS 10746B were evaluated in spontaneous activity and in aggressive behaviour using the paradigm of isolation‐induced aggression. The two higher doses (8 and 16 mg/kg) produced a decrease in spontaneous motor activity. Antiaggressive effects were observed after administration of doses from 4 mg/kg upwards. At this dose, CGS 10746B diminished threat and att…
