  • Association between Non-Dietary Cardiovascular Health and Expenditures Related to Acute Coronary Syndrome in the US between 2008–2018

    Open Access•Abraham M Enyeji, Noël C Barengo et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

Background: Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) causes the most deaths in the United States and accounts for the highest amount of healthcare spending. Cardiovascular Health (CVH) metrics have been widely used in primary prevention, but their benefits in secondary prevention on total healthcare expenditures related to ACS are largely unknown. This study aims to quantify the potential significance of ideal CVH scores as a tool in secondary cardiovascula…

  • Religion and Death in the United States

Open Access•Frances Sissamis, Karina Villalba et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

  • Occupational physical activity and other risk factors for preterm birth among US Army primigravidas

    G Ramirez, Gilbert Ramı́rez et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1990•Cited by: 3•References: 3

We examined the relation of occupational physical activity to the risk of preterm birth among US Army active-duty primigravidas between 1981 and 1984 using 604 cases (preterm deliveries; less than or equal to 37 weeks gestation) and 6,070 controls (term and post-term deliveries). Women employed in the highest physical activity levels had increased odds of preterm delivery ranging from 1.69 to 1.75. The relation was not changed by adjustment for t…
