  • Secular Changes in Fore-arc Sandstones and Their Provenance in Cretaceous Southwest Japan

Open Access•Ryo Hasegawa, Yukio ISOZAKI et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Geography (Chigaku…•2020

To reconstruct the tectono-sedimentary history of the Cretaceous fore-arc in Japan, U–Pb dating is conducted of detrital zircons in Upper Jurassic and Cretaceous shallow-marine sandstones from the Chichibu belt in Kyushu, Shikoku, and Kii Peninsula, Southwest Japan. The U–Pb ages of detrital zircon in 18 analyzed sandstone samples revealed the following new facts. The predominance of Jurassic grains, with a minor amount of Paleozoic and Precambri…

  • Fragmented Ancient Fore-arc Basin

Open Access•Ryo Hasegawa, Yukio ISOZAKI et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Geography (Chigaku…•2020

To reconstruct the tectono-sedimentary histroy of the fore-arc basin that developed along the Cretaceous–Paleogene arc-trench system in Japan, a provenance analysis is carried out by U–Pb dating detrital zircons, particularly for Cretaceous–Paleogene sandstones/conglomerates sporadically found in five distinct areas of the Kanto and southern Tohoku district, i.e., the Shoya Formation in Saku, the Kanohara Conglomerate in Shimonita, the Yorii Form…

  • Tooth-Level Analysis of Dental Caries in Primary Dentition in Myanmar Children

Open Access•Yoshiaki Nomura, Ryoko Otsuka et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

In developing countries, the prevalence of dental caries in children remains high, which means that implementing a simple and convenient classification is critical. The classification needs to be evidence-based and needs to reflect tooth-level information. In this study, the prevalence of dental caries in the primary dentition of 352 Myanmar school children at the ages of 5, 6, and 7 was analyzed at the tooth level to clarify the underlying data …

  • Oral Microbiome of Children Living in an Isolated Area in Myanmar

Open Access•Yoshiaki Nomura, Ryoko Otsuka et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

Several studies have shown that the oral microbiome is related to systemic health, and a co-relation with several specific diseases has been suggested. The oral microbiome depends on environmental- and community-level factors. In this observational study, the oral microbiomes of children of isolated mountain people were analyzed with respect to the core oral microbiome and etiology of dental caries. We collected samples of supragingival plaque fr…
