  • Rill investigation on landslide scar highlights the shortcomings of current knowledge on erosion of shallow landslides

Open Access•Bingzhe Tang, Juying Jiao et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2024

Widespread shallow landslides typically result in the loss of productive soils and grasslands. Deposits of landslide tails have received much attention, while the severity of rill erosion on the landslide scar is generally neglected or underestimated. Thirty‐five rainfall‐induced shallow landslides were selected on Lishi (finer texture) and Malan loess (coarser texture) on the hilly and gully Loess Plateau, China. The rill erosion intensity and r…

  • Quantifying the importance of different erosion processes and soil and water conservation measure collapses following an extreme rainstorm in the Chinese Loess Plateau

Open Access•Yixian Chen, Matthias Vanmaercke et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2023

Extreme rainfall events can make disproportionally larger contributions than common rainfalls to soil erosion rates. Yet assessing the importance of different soil erosion processes during such events remains a critical challenge, especially due to a lack of field observations. Based on detailed field surveys and remote‐sensing analyses, we therefore provide erosion budgets for three representative catchments in the Chinese Loess Plateau, followi…

  • Distribution Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Organochlorine Pesticides in Agricultural Soil from Xiamen City

Open Access•Ziqiang Gao, Yixian Chen et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

The concentration and distribution of 15 organochlorine pesticides in the soil of Xiamen City were determined. Overall, among the 15 selected target pesticides, 14 organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) were detected (hexachlorobenzene was not). The range of detected pesticides was undetected-10.04 ng/g, the total detection rate was 35.2%, and the three pollutants with the highest detection rate in all samples were Heptachlor (66.7%), δ-Hexachlorocyclo…

  • Gully erosion on alluvial fans can be mitigated by altering the hydrological connectivity between an alluvial fan and the contributing catchment

Open Access•Jianjun Li, Chunjing Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2022

In the Lower Lhasa River basin of the Tibetan Plateau, gully erosion poses a threat to alluvial fans (AF), which are the main available land resource for agriculture. Runoff from the whole contributing catchment is concentrated in AF, which makes influencing factors of AF gully erosion more complex than it is for hillslopes. There is a lack of quantitative research about the influencing factors and mechanisms of AF gully erosion. The main objecti…

  • Perceived Intrinsic Motivation Mediates the Effect of Motive Incongruence on Job Burnout and Job Satisfaction

Cafer Bakaç, Yixian Chen et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Psychology•2022

Job burnout is a profound concern in modern society producing enormous financial and emotional costs for companies, health insurances, and the individual employee. In this study, we aimed at contributing to the literature on determinants of job burnout by investigating the indirect effects of implicit and explicit motive discrepancies (IED) through intrinsic motivation, with the aim of replicating previous findings from the literature. In additio…

  • Multiscale Evolutionary Perturbation Attack on Community Detection

Open Access•Jinyin Chen, Yixian Chen et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2021

Community detection, aiming to group nodes based on their connections, plays an important role in network analysis since communities, treated as meta-nodes, allow us to create a large-scale map of a network to simplify its analysis. However, for privacy reasons, we may want to prevent communities from being discovered in certain cases, leading to the topics on community deception. In this article, we formalize this community detection attack prob…

Open Access•Jinyin Chen, Yixian Chen et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2021

The adversarial attack methods based on gradient information can adequately find the perturbations, that is, the combinations of rewired links, thereby reducing the effectiveness of the deep learning model-based graph embedding algorithms, but it is also easy to fall into a local optimum. Therefore, this article proposes a momentum gradient attack (MGA) against the graph convolutional network (GCN) model, which can achieve more aggressive attacks…

  • Accuracy Assessment of the Planar Morphology of Valley Bank Gullies Extracted with High Resolution Remote Sensing Imagery on the Loess Plateau, China

Open Access•Yixian Chen, Juying Jiao et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

Gully erosion is a serious environmental problem worldwide, causing soil loss, land degradation, silting up of reservoirs and even catastrophic flooding. Mapping gully features from remote sensing imagery is crucial for assisting in understanding gully erosion mechanisms, predicting its development processes and assessing its environmental and socio-economic effects over large areas, especially under the increasing global climate extremes and int…
