  • Postural Fitness Protocol in Children and Adolescents

Open Access•Maria Teresa Martínez-Romero, Mark De Ste Croix et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2025

The "Postural Fitness" protocol proved feasible in school settings and revealed key sex-based disparities in spinal and neuromuscular profiles. These findings highlight the need for individualized, sex-specific screening and preventive programs to enhance back health during growth. Implementing this protocol may support early identification of modifiable risk factors linked to spinal dysfunction and pain in youth

  • Effect of a Simulated Match on Lower Limb Neuromuscular Performance in Youth Footballers—A Two Year Longitudinal Study

Open Access•Michal Lehnert, Mark De Ste Croix et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

The aim of this study was to explore the effects of simulated soccer match play on neuromuscular performance in adolescent players longitudinally over a two-year period. Eleven players completed all measurements in both years of the study (1st year: age 16.0 ± 0.4 y; stature 178.8 ± 6.4 cm; mass 67.5 ± 7.8 kg; maturity-offset 2.24 ± 0.71 y). There was a significant reduction in hamstring strength after simulated match by the soccer-specific aerob…

  • Lower-Limb Flexibility Profile Analysis in Youth Competitive Inline Hockey Players

Open Access•Antonio Cejudo, Víctor Jesús Moreno-Alcaraz et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

During puberty, the growth of the bones is faster than that of the muscles, which may result in muscular tightness. Muscular tightness and asymmetry have been associated with an increase in injury incidence. The assessment of a joint range of motion (ROM) could help to identify athletes classified as high injury risk. The objectives of the present study were to describe the lower-extremity flexibility profile (LEFP) of youth competitive inline ho…

  • Efecto agudo del estiramiento sobre el rendimiento físico

Open Access•Francisco Ayala, Pilar Sáinz de Baranda et al.•ARTICLE•Cultura Ciencia y Deporte•2011

The main purpose of this critical review was to analyze the acute effect of stretching exercises as part of the warm-up on various strength and power measurement tests (isometric test, isokinetic test, jump test, and agility and coordination test) used to evaluate the acute effect of the stretch. The use of stretching as an important part of all warm-ups has been widely recommended. However, the number of scientific studies that question the incl…

  • Efecto de un programa de estiramientos activos en jugadoras de fútbol sala de alto rendimiento. (Effect of Active Stretching on Hip Flexion Range of Motion in Female Professional Futsal Players)

Open Access•Francisco Ayala, Pilar Sáinz de Baranda et al.•ARTICLE•Cultura Ciencia y Deporte•2010

The purpose of this study was to determine the hamstring flexibility progression through hip flexion range of motion (ROM) before (hip flexion baseline, lasting 6 weeks), during (effect of stretching program, lasting 8 weeks) and after (flexibility retention, lasting 4 weeks) an 8-week active stretching program in female professional futsal players. Material and method: 10 young adult professional female futsal players completed this study. An un…
