Higher everyday functioning, lower quality of life, and home care are associated with persisting symptoms after a Covid-19 infection in German care recipients
Introduction: To date, risk factors for persisting symptoms after a COVID-19 infection have not been investigated in people needing care or support. Prior meta-analyses identified age, obesity, and female sex as risk factors for persisting symptoms after a COVID-19 infection in the general population. Methods: This study is part of the Bavarian ambulatory COVID-19 monitor. Data were collected from ambulatory patients needing care/support and a pa…
Associations of Mental Health Issues with Health Literacy and Vaccination Readiness against Covid-19 in Long-Term Care Facilities—A Cross-Sectional Analysis
Vaccinations against COVID-19 are of the utmost importance in long-term care facilities. During the pandemic, mental health issues increased significantly. This cross-sectional analysis aimed to assess the associations of depression and anxiety with health literacy in people in need of care and the association of depression and burnout with vaccination readiness against COVID-19 in health care workers (HCWs). Within our cross-sectional study, peo…
Detecting Medication Risks among People in Need of Care
Using a single screening tool may not have sufficient sensitivity to detect PIMs and PPOs. Further research is required to optimize the composition of PIM and PPO tools in different settings
Abuse of Non-opioid Analgesics in Germany
Abuse of NOA is highly prevalent in the German population. Against the background of increasing self-medication of NOA, healthcare providers need to be aware of potential risk factors of abuse to better identify and prevent this problem
Subtypes in Patients Taking Prescribed Opioid Analgesics and Their Characteristics
The results add further evidence to the knowledge that patients using prescribed opioid analgesics are not a homogeneous group of individuals whose needs lie in pain management alone. Rather, it becomes clear that these patients differ in their individual risk of a prescription opioid use disorder, and therefore identification of specific risks plays an important role in early prevention
