  • International Exercise Recommendations in Older Adults (ICFSR)

Open Access•Mikel Izquierdo, Reshma Aziz Merchant et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of nutrition, health…•2021

The human ageing process is universal, ubiquitous and inevitable. Every physiological function is being continuously diminished. There is a range between two distinct phenotypes of ageing, shaped by patterns of living - experiences and behaviours, and in particular by the presence or absence of physical activity (PA) and structured exercise (i.e., a sedentary lifestyle). Ageing and a sedentary lifestyle are associated with declines in muscle func…

  • Feasibility and potential benefits of a structured exercise program on cognitive performance in HIV

    Navaldeep Kaur, Mylène Aubertin-Leheudre et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2021

Although exercise has been shown to improve cardiorespiratory and metabolic outcomes in people with HIV, its effect on cognitive ability remains understudied. Our study aimed to estimate the feasibility and efficacy potential of a 12-week aerobic and resistance training program on cognitive and physical performance outcomes. This is an externally controlled, two time-point, feasibility study within a larger study using a cohort multiple randomize…

  • Relationship between protein intake and bone architecture or bone mineral density among dynapenic-obese older adults

Open Access•Fanny Buckinx, Eva Peyrusque et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2021

Objective: The current study aimed to assess the relationship between protein intake and bone parameters among dynapenic-obese older adults. Design: The current study is a secondary analysis with an a posteriori and exploratory design. Setting: Subjects were recruited from the community via social communication (flyers and meetings in community centres) in the Great Montreal area. Participants: Twenty-six subjects were divided a posteriori into t…

  • Relationship between interference control and working memory with academic performance in high school students

    Open Access•M Dubuc, Mylène Aubertin‐Leheudre et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Adolescence•2020

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between interference control and working memory with academic performance in both female and male high school students using a longitudinal design. METHODS: One hundred and eighty-seven grade seventh to ninth students (mean age: 13.1 ± 1.0 years old) from a French-Canadian high school located in Montreal, Canada, completed a 3-year prospective study. Interference control (Fla…

  • Lifestyle Habits Predict Academic Performance in High School Students

    Open Access•M Dubuc, Mylène Aubertin-Leheudre et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

This study aimed to determine if lifestyle habits could predict changes in cognitive control and academic performance in high school students using a longitudinal approach. One hundred and eighty-seven grade seventh to ninth students (mean age: 13.1 ± 1.0 years old) completed a 3-year prospective study. Lifestyle habits, cognitive control, and academic performance were assessed every year during the 3-year study. Results show that in female stude…

  • Relationship Between Sarcopenia and Fracture Risks in Obese Postmenopausal Women

    Mylène Aubertin-Leheudre, Mylène Aubertin‐Leheudre et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Women & Aging•2008

It is known that obesity is inversely correlated with fracture risk. It remains unclear if a low muscle mass (sarcopenia) modulates the relationship between obesity and bone mass density. Twenty-seven obese women were matched for total fat mass (+/- 0.5 kg) and age (+/- 4 yrs) and divided in 3 equal groups: class II sarcopenic, class I sarcopenic, and nonsarcopenic. Body composition (DXA) and dietary intake were measured. Our results suggest that…

  • Past-Users of HRT are Osteopenic Four Months After Discontinuation

    Mylène Aubertin-Leheudre, Mylène Aubertin‐Leheudre et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Women & Aging•2006

Hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) helps to prevent osteoporosis. The effect of short-term discontinuation of a long-term HRT on bone mineral density (BMD) in healthy post-menopausal women is unknown. Fifteen women on HRT (HRT users), 17 who never used HRT (non-users) and 8 former HRT users (past-HRT users) were recruited. BMD was measured by DXA. Our results allow to hypothesize that BMD may decline after short-term HRT discontinuation, which wo…
