  • Rapid prediction of urban flood based on disaster-breeding environment clustering and Bayesian optimized deep learning model in the coastal city

Open Access•Huiliang Wang, Shanlun Xu et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2023

  • Recent regional warming across the Siberian lowlands

Open Access•Ping Wang, Qiwei Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2022

The northern mid-high latitudes experience climate warming much faster than the global average. However, the difference in the temperature change rates between permafrost and non-permafrost zones remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the temporal changes in temperature means and extremes across the Siberian lowlands (<500 m) over the past six decades (1960–2019) using in situ observations and reanalysis data. The results show that perma…

  • Investigating Flood Risks of Rainfall and Storm Tides Affected by the Parameter Estimation Coupling Bivariate Statistics and Hydrodynamic Models in the Coastal City

Open Access•Hongshi Xu, Kui Xu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

The public health risk caused by urban floods is a global concern. Flood risks are amplified by the interaction of rainfall and storm tides in coastal cities. In this study, we investigate the flood risks of rainfall and storm tides coupling statistical and hydrodynamic models and evaluate the influence of different parameter estimation methods and bivariate return periods (RPs) on flood risks in the coastal city. The statistical model is used to…

  • Potential role of permafrost thaw on increasing Siberian river discharge

Open Access•Ping Wang, Qiwei Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2021

Despite the increasing Siberian river discharge, the sensitivity of streamflow to climate forcing/permafrost thawing is poorly quantified. Based on the Budyko framework and superposition principles, we detected and attributed the changes in streamflow regimes for the three great Siberian rivers (Ob, Yenisei, and Lena) during 1936–2019. Over the past 84 years, streamflow of Ob, Yenisei and Lena has increased by ∼7.7%, 7.4% and 22.0%, respectively.…
