  • Navigating the Tension Between Christianity and Confucianism in Walter Henry Medhurst’s Translation of The Shoo King

    Open Access•Yanlin Zhang, Guilu Ge•ARTICLE•Religions•2025

Walter Henry Medhurst’s translation of The Shoo King (尚書/書經) represents the first complete English rendering of this classic Chinese text. However, limited attention has been given to how Medhurst navigated the tension between Confucian thought in The Shoo King and his own religious beliefs, as well as his treatment of this tension in comparison to James Legge, Joseph de Prémare, Walter Gorn Old, and his interpretation in contrast to Cai Shen’s a…

  • Identification and Evolutionary Analysis of User Collusion Behavior in Blockchain Online Social Media

Open Access•Hongting Tang, Jian Ni et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2024

Blockchain technology has given rise to a series of new blockchain online social media (BOSMs), of which Steemit is representative. Such communities are based on a token reward system and attempt to engross users in the knowledge activities of the community through knowledge payment. Studies have found that the reward system of such communities has been abused (e.g., collusion for profit), but few studies have performed an in-depth analysis for t…

  • Permafrost thermal dynamics at a local scale in northern Da Xing’anling Mountains

Open Access•Xiaoli Chang, Huijun Jin et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2024

Permafrost in Northeastern China is not only controlled by latitude and elevation, but also locally environmental factors, such as vegetation cover and human activities. During 2009–2022, thinning active layer, increasing annual maximum frost depth in talik zones and lowering ground temperature above the depth of dividing point (DDP) between permafrost cooling and warming have been observed in many places, possibly due to the global warming hiatu…

  • Understanding dockless bike-sharing spatiotemporal travel patterns

Open Access•Fanyun Meng, Lili Zheng et al.•ARTICLE•Computers Environment and Urban…•2023

  • Assessing the Influence of Landmarks and Paths on the Navigational Efficiency and the Cognitive Load of Indoor Maps

Open Access•Fang Hao, Hao Fang et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2020

The aim of this study was to investigate whether different expressions of landmarks and paths have different influences on the navigational efficiency and the cognitive load of indoor maps. The study tested 80 subjects by indoor path discovery experiments and measured their cognitive loads with the Cooper–Harper scale. According to the results, we extracted some key landmarks from all landmarks of the experimental indoor map and evaluated the sal…

  • Occurrence and Distribution of Uranium in a Hydrological Cycle around a Uranium Mill Tailings Pond, Southern China

Open Access•Wenjie Ma, Bai Gao et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

Uranium (U) mining activities, which lead to contamination in soils and waters (i.e., leachate from U mill tailings), cause serious environmental problems. However, limited research works have been conducted on U pollution associated with a whole soil-water system. In this study, a total of 110 samples including 96 solid and 14 water samples were collected to investigate the characteristics of U distribution in a natural soil-water system near a …

  • Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in China at a city level

Open Access•Yan-Lin Zhang, Yanlin Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Scientific Reports•2015

This study presents one of the first long term datasets including a statistical summary of PM 2.5 concentrations obtained from one-year monitoring in 190 cities in China. We found only 25 out of 190 cities could meet the National Ambient Air Quality Standards of China and the population-weighted mean of PM 2.5 in Chinese cities are 61 μg/m 3 , ~3 times as high as global population-weighted mean, highlighting a high health risk. PM 2.5 concentrati…

  • High secondary aerosol contribution to particulate pollution during haze events in China

    Open Access•Ru‐Jin Huang, Ru-Jin Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Nature•2014
