Optimizing cognitive load in digital nursing education
BACKGROUND: Optimizing cognitive load in nursing digital education requires an evidence-based understanding of cognitive engagement patterns across various learning material modalities. However, the current literature lacks psychophysiological evidence regarding aptitude-by-modality interactions within nursing learning contexts. METHODS: A 2 × 3 factorial psychobehavioural experiment was conducted with 58 undergraduate nursing students, stratifie…
Patient-Physician Race Concordance, Physician Decisions, and Patient Outcomes
Using administrative data from a large and diverse emergency department (ED), we examine the impact of race concordance between patients and physicians on physician decision-making and patient health outcomes. We find that patient-physician race concordance increases consultation time and decreases the probability of inpatient admission and diagnostic testing. Subsequently, race-concordant patients have lower revisit rates after ED discharge. The…
Modeling and Risk Analysis of Chemical Terrorist Attacks
The chemical terrorist attack is an unconventional form of terrorism with vast scope of influence, strong concealment, high technical means and severe consequences. Chemical terrorism risk refers to the uncertainty of the effects of terrorist organisations using toxic industrial chemicals/drugs and classic chemical weapons to attack the population. There are multiple risk factors infecting chemical terrorism risk, such as the threat degree of ter…
