  • Root‐Induced Variations in Electrochemical Properties of Soil Colloids Influence Rill Flow Detachment on the Loess Plateau

Open Access•Junyang Liu, Zhengchao Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2026

Plant root‐induced variations in soil‐colloid electrochemical properties contribute to changes in rill flow detachment on the Loess Plateau. This field‐based study was conducted to examine the influence of various electrochemical properties of soil colloids caused by roots on rill flow detachment on the Loess Plateau, because this phenomenon has not gotten much attention. A total of 288 samples of undisturbed soil were collected from two soil lay…

  • Thermal regulation mechanism of air-drying shelter to indoor environment of earth buildings located in Turpan basin with extremely dry and hot climate conditions

Open Access•Lei Zhang, Guochen Sang et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2023

  • Effect of hygrothermal behaviour of earth brick on indoor environment in a desert climate

Open Access•Lei Zhang, Guochen Sang et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2020

  • Infectious Diseases and Tropical Cyclones in Southeast China

Open Access•Jietao Zheng, Weixiao Han et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2017

Southeast China is frequently hit by tropical cyclones (TCs) with significant economic and health burdens each year. However, there is a lack of understanding of what infectious diseases could be affected by tropical cyclones. This study aimed to examine the impacts of tropical cyclones on notifiable infectious diseases in southeast China. Disease data between 2005 and 2011 from four coastal provinces in southeast China, including Guangdong, Hain…

  • Major Natural Disasters in China, 1985–2014

Open Access•Weixiao Han, Chen Liang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2016

This study aimed to describe the characteristics of natural disasters and associated losses from 1985 to 2014. The Mann-Kendall method was used to detect any long-term trends and abrupt changes. Hotspot analysis was conducted to detect the spatial clusters of disasters. We found an increasing trend in the occurrence of integrated natural disasters ( tau = 0.594 , p ), particularly for floods ( tau = 0.507, p tau = 0.365, p = 0.009) and storms ( t…
