Comparison of Local Spatial Deviation Indicators with Their Associated Tests
Currently, two kinds of local spatial deviation indicators, namely local spatial heteroscedastic statistics and local spatial variance, with their associated tests have been proposed for estimating and inferring the characteristics of a spatial process at the second-order moment level, which is of wide potential application in spatial data analysis. Nonetheless, the performance of the indicators with their associated tests remains to be systemati…
Ameliorative Effects of Component Chinese Medicine From Curcumae Rhizoma and Sparganii Rhizoma, a Traditional Herb Pair, on Uterine Leiomyoma in a Rat Model
Uterine leiomyoma (UL), common benign tumors in women of child-bearing age, are believed to be caused mainly by Qi stagnation and blood stasis, according to a theory of traditional Chinese medicine. Curcumae Rhizoma and Sparganii Rhizoma (CRSR) is a classical herb pair that activates blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis. The purpose of this study was to explore the prevention and treatment effects of CRSR component compatibility on UL in r…
School Commuting Mode Shift
Active school commuting provides a convenient opportunity to promote physical activity for children, while also reducing car dependence and its associated environmental impacts. School–home distance is a critical factor in school commuting mode choice, and longer distances have been proven to increase the likelihood of driving. In this study, we combine open-access data acquired from Baidu Map application programming interface (API) with GIS (Geo…
Comparative Research of Audit Tools on Built Environment for Active Living
Nowadays, chronic non-communicable diseases have impacted the overall public health level of societies and caused severe socio-economic burden. Empirical studies have revealed that physical activities can promote active living and help prevent and heal non-communicable diseases. Evaluation of built environment factors associated with physical activities is the precondition of promoting active living through environmental planning and design. This…
What can urban design learn from changing winds? A case study of public space in Nanjing (1990s-2010s)
Climate is one of the prominent and persistent factors affecting the human habitat. During the recent urbanization, human society has left remarkable environment footprints including the macro- and micro- climates related to human settlement. It’s essential for urban planning decision-maker to contextualize people’s wellbeing in the public space and micro-climate changes. The adverse changes of micro-climate are usually related more to local deve…
Association of Sedentary Behavior and Depression among College Students Majoring in Design
To reduce the risk of depression, students majoring in design should be encouraged to change sedentary behaviors to physical activities in their study and life, such as using non-seating postures to do school assignments, making time for more physical activities and reducing assignments on weekends
Elemental Characterization by EDXRF of Imperial L ongquan Celadon Porcelain Excavated from F engdongyan Kiln, D ayao C ounty
A mass of L ongquan porcelain shards carved with ‘ G uan’ or the dragon patterns were unearthed in the early M ing D ynasty layer of the F engdongyan kiln site at D ayao C ounty. These celadon shards were fired in the H ongwu and Y ongle eras of the M ing D ynasty. In order to research the raw materials and firing technology of the imperial porcelain, 85 typical shards were analysed by energy‐dispersive X ‐ray fluorescence ( EDXRF ). The results …
