    뉴노멀 시대를 맞이하여 21세기 동북아 국제정치에서는 최근 전례 없는 변화들이 나타나고 있다. 대표적으로 미-중 간 패권경쟁이 격화되고, 기존 동북아 지역에서 한반도를 중심으로 전개되었던 한·미·일 삼각협력과 북·중·러 삼각협력 간 역내 세력균형 양상에도 다양한 변수가 발생하고 있음이 이를 증명한다. 더욱이 코로나19가 전 세계를 강타하면서 세계는 더욱 어려운 상황에 직면하고 있다. 이러한 상황은 세계 각국이 외교활동을 통해 기존 다자협력으로의 참여에 상대적으로 높은 비중을 두었던 행보와는 별도로 국익이 일치하는 국가 간 양자 협력의 중요성이 더욱 부각되는 시점임을 시사한다. 한국과 마찬가지로 동북아 지역에 위치한 자유 민주주의 국가인 몽골은 약소국임에도 불구하고 남북한 동시 수교국으로서 한반도 문제에도 특수한 역할을 수행해 왔다. 이러한 몽골의 외교적 역량은 역내 국가들로 하여금 지정학적 비교…
