Validation of the fear of happiness scale and its associations with depression and anxiety in South Korea
Effects of Subjective Socioeconomic Status and Interpersonal and Non-Interpersonal Trauma on Extreme Social Withdrawal
BACKGROUND: Although sociodemographic characteristics related to extreme social withdrawal (ESW) have been investigated, the role of subjective socioeconomic status (SES) and the differential effects of interpersonal and non-interpersonal trauma remain underexplored. This study examined the effects of distal (i.e. subjective SES, interpersonal, and non-interpersonal trauma) and proximal (i.e. a history of psychiatric diagnosis and depressive symp…
The Psychometric Properties of the Korean Version of the Reasons for Living Inventory for Young Adults–II
Machine learning prediction of anxiety symptoms in social anxiety disorder
This study showed that a ML algorithm using integrated multimodal data can predict upper tertile anxiety symptoms in patients with SAD with higher performance than acoustic or physiological data obtained during a VR session. The results of this study can be used as evidence for personalized VR sessions and to demonstrate the strength of the clinical use of multimodal data
Factor structures and psychometric properties of three brief versions of the difficulties in emotion regulation scale in the Korean population
These findings highlight the robustness of the DERS-SF and DERS-18 as parsimonious and efficient measures of emotion dysregulation with fewer items than the original version. Furthermore, this study provides additional support for excluding the Awareness subscale when using the brief versions of the DERS
Effects of distraction, cognitive reappraisal, and acceptance on the urge to self-harm and negative affect in nonsuicidal self-injury
Increased neural responses to negative facial emotions and their relationship with dysfunctional attitudes among unmedicated individuals with major depressive disorder

Association of socioeconomic status with nonsuicidal self-injury and suicidal ideation in young Korean adults
OBJECTIVE: Although nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) in youth is an important mental health concern worldwide, limited studies have investigated its sociodemographic correlates in early adulthood. This study explored associations between socioeconomic status (SES) and self-harm behaviors, including NSSI and suicidal ideation, in a community-based sample of young adults. METHODS: A total of 414 Korean young adults engaged in NSSI and 200 controls co…
Neural correlates of affective theory of mind in medication-free nonsuicidal self-injury
Emerging evidence indicates that emotion processing deficits are associated with nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI). However, limited attention has been paid to the socio-affective functions of NSSI. In this study, we aimed to investigate the affective theory of mind (ToM) in medication-free individuals engaging in NSSI at both behavioral and neural levels. Twenty-eight individuals (mean age = 22.96 years) who engaged in NSSI and 38 age-, sex-, and I…
Disguised Emotion in Alexithymia
Despite decades of speculation, many causal aspects that contribute to the heterogeneity of alexithymia still must be clarified. This study examined the extent of the alexithymia phenotype and its contribution to social function in the general population. In total, 200 participants (females = 111) completed the Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 (TAS-20), multiple self-reporting questionnaires measuring emotion intelligence, empathy, hostility and impu…
