Educational inequalities in trajectories of co-occurring behavioral health risk factors over four years
This study demonstrates heterogeneity in BRF trajectories and their relation to education. Although higher-educated persons were more likely in classes with fewer BRFs and favorable BRF changes, alcohol consumption remained a common BRF in several of these trajectories. Trajectories of multiple co-occurring BRFs, particularly those involving tobacco smoking and unfavorable BRF changes, seem to disproportionately affect lower-educated persons
The Perceived Stress Scale 2&2
The valid and economic short version of the PSS lends itself to be used in future resilience research. Our findings highlight the importance of the two-factor structure of the PSS short versions and challenge the validity of commonly used one-factor models. In cases where the general stress factor is of interest, researchers should use the longer versions of the PSS that allow for the interpretation of total scores, while the PSS-2&2 allows of an…
Association between Alcohol Consumption and Health-Related Quality of Life among Hospital and Ambulatory Care Patients with Past Year Depressive Symptoms
Alcohol consumption was associated with better physical HRQOL. Findings do not justify ascribing alcohol positive effects on HRQOL. Data indicate that non-drinkers may suffer from serious health disorders. The results of this study can inform the development of future alcohol- and depression-related interventions
