Quality of life and disease burden in tuberous sclerosis and comparison with the population with idiopathic autism spectrum disorder
Despite its lack of validation, the TSCQoL scale was established as an exploratory tool that consistently highlighted, along with the PedsQL, clinical factors that most impact quality of life. Quality of life was low in the TSC population, and this was strongly correlated with neuropsychiatric manifestations and epilepsy. Through comparison with idiopathic ASD, we observed a greater impact of the syndromic condition on disease burden
Exploring health needs and the double burden of disease in adults attending public health facilities in the Iraqi Kurdistan
Objective: We analyzed the health needs of the adult population accessing public health facilities in the Iraqi Kurdistan, a region facing both demographic and epidemiological transitions while undergoing post-crisis recovery. We investigates the prevalence and distribution of communicable and non-communicable diseases using real-world data from a digital surveillance system. Methods: Data collected across public health centers (PHC) were extract…
The global response to HIV/Aids in sub-Saharan Africa
Over four decades, the global response to HIV/AIDS has transformed the disease into a manageable chronic condition, driven by advances in antiretroviral therapy, global financing, and ambitious targets like the 90-90-90 and 95-95-95 goals. Yet HIV remains a major challenge, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, which bears the highest burden worldwide. While AIDS-related mortality has declined, the number of people living with HIV continues to grow, …
Perceived HIV-related stigma among people living with HIV in Guinea
Background HIV-related stigma remains a barrier to healthcare access and adherence. In sub-Saharan Africa, it leads to delayed testing, poor care retention, and psychosocial issues. Guinea has a high HIV stigma index, yet limited research examines its impact on PLWH. This study assesses factors influencing perceived stigma to intervention efforts. Methods This study was conducted in four DREAM centers in Guinea from November 2023 to June 2024. PLW…
Investigating the attenuated psychosis syndrome in youth with autism spectrum disorder
These findings provide a more nuanced characterization of APS features in individuals with ASD and emphasize the importance of screening for APS in this population, particularly those considered at increased risk. Early detection and intervention could facilitate timely therapeutic support, potentially improving long-term outcomes for these individuals
