Beyond coupling and entanglement
National-park co-management is often evaluated through institutional design or social–ecological outcomes, leaving underexamined how formal authority, culturally embedded practice, and ecological change become mutually consequential. This article investigates that relationship in Wuyishan National Park, an inhabited protected landscape shaped by Taoist sacred geography, Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucian legacy, centuries of tea production and trade, and suc…
Green transformation or economic growth? The dual impact of the environmental target-based responsibility system in resource-dependent cities
The balance between carbon emissions reduction and economic growth in resource-based cities is a critical issue that must be addressed by nations worldwide in their pursuit of carbon neutrality. Leveraging city and firm data from 108 resource-based cities, this study dissects the dual impact of the environmental target-based responsibility system (ETRS) on industrial green transformation and economic growth. The empirical results reveal a pronoun…
Association between weekend catch-up sleep and hypertension of the United States population from 2017 to 2020
Moderate weekend catch-up sleep could serve as an effective intervention to mitigate hypertension risk, especially in populations with restricted weekday sleep. These results suggest the potential for integrating sleep management strategies into public health recommendations to address hypertension. Future longitudinal studies are needed to confirm these findings and clarify the mechanisms underlying the relationship between WCS and hypertension …
Association between weekday sleep, weekday-weekend sleep duration gap, and hypertension in American adolescents
The study highlighted that insufficient weekday sleep duration significantly increases hypertension risk among adolescents. Contrary to popular belief, compensating for sleep deprivation through extended WWSDG did not mitigate this risk. Public health interventions should focus on promoting consistent and adequate sleep throughout the week for cardiovascular health benefits in adolescents. Further longitudinal research is necessary to explore cau…
