Quality of life and disease burden in tuberous sclerosis and comparison with the population with idiopathic autism spectrum disorder
Despite its lack of validation, the TSCQoL scale was established as an exploratory tool that consistently highlighted, along with the PedsQL, clinical factors that most impact quality of life. Quality of life was low in the TSC population, and this was strongly correlated with neuropsychiatric manifestations and epilepsy. Through comparison with idiopathic ASD, we observed a greater impact of the syndromic condition on disease burden
Pediatric-Onset Multiple Sclerosis and Primary Headache
These findings indicate that while headaches are common in POMS and more frequent in females, their presence and features do not appear to directly influence the clinical or neuroradiological course of the disease. Further research with larger cohorts and longitudinal follow-up is warranted to better understand the underlying mechanisms and long-term impact of headaches in pediatric MS
Opsoclonus-Myoclonus Syndrome in Children and Adolescents
Opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome (OMS) is a neurological non-fatal disease that usually responds to immunotherapies. However, the real challenge is to counteract the high frequency of relapses and long-term developmental sequelae. Since the OMS is extremely rare, a common consensus regarding therapeutic guidelines is still lacking. The goals of this study were to test whether ACTH was superior to other immunotherapies and to investigate whether an e…
