  • Geographical factors influencing household cookstove choices in Nepal

    Open Access•Kyungtae Lee, Alexander Kwon•ARTICLE•Social Sciences & Humanities Open•2025

Using data from the Multi-Tier Framework Survey (MTF) conducted in Nepal, we explore how geographical factors, specifically land slope and elevation, impact the adoption of LPG stoves. We employ a logit model to analyze the factors influencing households’ choices regarding LPG stove adoption and generate slope and elevation data. Overall, we find that the estimates of the average slope are robust and statistically significant, but those for the a…

  • Improving cold-region streamflow estimation by winter precipitation adjustment using passive microwave snow remote sensing datasets

Open Access•Do‐Hyuk Kang, Kyungtae Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2021

Winter precipitation estimations and spatially sparse snow observations are key challenges when predicting snowmelt-driven floods. An improvement in streamflow prediction is achieved in a snowmelt-dominant basin, i.e. the Red River Basin (RRB), by adjusting the amounts of snowfall through satellite-borne passive microwave observations of snow water equivalent (SWE). A snowfall forcing dataset is scaled to minimize the difference between simulated…
