The paper presents characteristics of 16 muscles of lower extremity of a gibbon with respect to their measurements and descriptive traits. Metric characteristics and descriptive traits of these muscles were compared to respecive data on chimpanzess, human fetuses and adults

On the material of 100 human fetuses aged 13 through 40 weeks rate of development and changes in shape and proportions of feet with age were observed. Dynamical development of observed characteristics occurs in fifth. seventh and ninth month of fetal life while slower growth is observed in perinatal period.
