Keith J Watts, Shawndaya Thrasher et al.•ARTICLE•Psychology and Sexuality•2026

Black LGBTQ+ adults navigate a unique social location characterised by synergistic stressors, yet the specific psychological mechanisms that translate community resources into resilience remain under-theorised. Grounded in the Social Cure framework and Intersectionality Theory, this study examined whether identity centrality mediates the relationship between Black LGBTQ+ community belongingness and subjective well-being. D Griffin•ARTICLE•Arctic Anthropology•2014

Archaeological excavations were conducted in the only prehistoric house on St. Mathew Island, Alaska in 2012. St. Matthew Island is located in the Bering Sea far from the Alaska mainland, with some saying it is the most remote area in all of Alaska. The island is uninhabited and seldom visited due to its relatively isolated position, lack of commercial resources, and its status as part of a National Wildlife Bird Sanctuary. Besides being remote, …

  • The Life Sentence and Parole

    D Griffin, Darren K Griffin et al.•ARTICLE•The British Journal of Criminology•2012•References: 27

Taking the life sentence as the new ‘ultimate penalty’ for many countries, this paper explores the factors associated with the release of life-sentence prisoners on parole. The Republic of Ireland is selected as a case study because it is in the unusual position of being influenced by European human rights norms as well as by the Anglo-American drive towards increased punitiveness. As an apparent outlier to both the human rights and punitive appr…
