Governed bodies, discarded bodies: Notes for an analysis of contemporary migrations during Covid-19
This article presents the results of an ethnographic research conducted in the northern border of Mexico from 2019 to 2021, specifically in the city of Tijuana. The objective of this article is to analyse the role of bodies in border and migration management with special emphasis on the time of the Covid-19 pandemic. To do so, I focus on three situations.
The objective of this article is to analyze the changes that have occurred in ethnographic fieldwork as a result of the multiple forms of violence that have increased and expanded in Mexico in the last twenty years. With the use of diverse documentary and theoretical sources, the author combines his experience as a graduate thesis director to trace an autoethnographic reflection that leads him to question the role of ethnographers in the face of …
Justice and Its Margins: Understanding the Effects of the State on Indigenous Migrants to the United States
Analysis of two court cases involving indigenous migrants, one in Oaxaca and one in California, shows what justice means for these people, how the effects of the state are constructed, and what kind of relationships people establish with what we call the state and the justice system. Despite the differences between the two cases, the indigenous subjects involved ended up experiencing these situations in similar ways. They live on the margins of t…
Migraciones a debate.
