  • Normal Versus Noncentral Chi-square Asymptotics of Misspecified Models

So Yeon Chun, Alexander Shapiro•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•2009

The noncentral chi-square approximation of the distribution of the likelihood ratio (LR) test statistic is a critical part of the methodology in structural equation modeling. Recently, it was argued by some authors that in certain situations normal distributions may give a better approximation of the distribution of the LR test statistic. The main goal of this article is to evaluate the validity of employing these distributions in practice. Monte…

  • Uniform Indices-of-Fit for Factor Analysis Models

    J D Botha, Alexander Shapiro et al.•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•1988

  • On the Multivariate Asymptotic Distribution of Sequential Chi-Square Statistics

Open Access•James H Steiger, Alexander Shapiro et al.•ARTICLE•Psychometrika•1985

The multivariate asymptotic distribution of sequential Chi-square test statistics is investigated. It is shown that: (a) when sequential Chi-square statistics are calculated for nested models on the same data, the statistics have an asymptotic intercorrelation which may be expressed in closed form, and which is, in many cases, quite high; and (b) sequential Chi-square difference tests are asymptotically independent. Some Monte Carlo evidence on t…
