The article presents the results of the analysis of materials and radiocarbon chronology of archaeological complexes with Ust’-Belaya pottery type studied in recent years in the vicinity of the city of Krasnoyarsk in the Middle Yenisei (the Krasnoyarsk archaeological area). The materials of the Nyasha, Voznesenskaya-1 sites and a new sector of the Neolithic cultural layer on the territory of the Krasnoyarskij Ostrog ensemble are considered. New a…
The Results of Experimental Microblade Pressure Flaking on Flint Raw Materials from the Altai Mountains
The article presents the results of experimental pressure flaking of flint aimed at the production of microliths. The raw materials used in the experiments are identical to those from the Neolithic and Mesolithic complexes of the Tytkesken-2, 3, 6 and Ust-Biyke-I sites in the Altai Mountains and come from the Katun river terraces at the mouth of the Tytkesken River. A total of 13 experiments were conducted. Seven of them, due to defects in raw ma…
Results of Archaeological and Geophysical Monitoring of the Domashneye Ozero Site (Central Kamchatka) in 2024
The article provides results of the comprehensive archaeological and geophysical studies conducted in 2024 at the Domashneye Ozero site, a key site of the Tarya culture in the Kamchatka River valley. Based on aerial photography, tacheometric survey, and visual inspection data, a detailed topographic plan of the site covering an area of over 32,300 sq. m was created for the first time, revealing 11 dwelling depressions and 26 pits. Geophysical stu…
Investigation of the Cultural Layer from the Ushki I Paleolithic Site Using Electrical Resistivity Tomography
The article provides geophysical studies using the electrical resistivity tomography method conducted during the 2024 field season at the stratified Paleolithic site Ushki I in Central Kamchatka. This method is based on measuring the electrical resistivity. It was applied at the site to determine the thickness of loose deposits, identify anthropogenic anomalies, and assess promising areas for future excavations. In previous years, during the rese…
The Solnechny Site and the Late Upper Paleolithic Culture of the Middle Yenisei Region
The Palaeolithic site of Solnechny was discovered in in the city of Krasnoyarsk (Middle Siberia) in 2017. The site is located on the high terrace levels of the left side of the Yenisei River valley, at a considerable distance from the modern river bed. During the salvage excavations in 2019 and 2020 the site was studied over an area of more than 3500 square meters. The rich Paleolithic cultural layer was included in the profile of modern chernoze…
Phenomenon of Early Upper Palaeolithic Bladelet Assemblages in the Altai Mountains
Purpose. The present study is devoted to the analysis, systematization, verification and generalization of data on "Aurignacian-like" bladelet assemblages of the Early Upper Palaeolithic of the Altai. In the regional context, this luminous phenomenon is considered the main component of the technocomplex of the Ust-Karakolian cultural tradition and even a cultural marker.Results. The Neolithic Burial of a Child from the Krasnoyarsk Region
The article analyzes the findings on the Neolithic burial discovered at the Udachny-14 burial site in the city of Krasnoyarsk. The skeleton of a child of 9–10 years old was located head to the south-west parallel to the river (upstream). Over the grave there is a hearth in which the red deer calcaneal bone is found. Between the skull and the pelvis bones, two beaver incisors lying parallel to each other, could relate to clothing or to decoration.…
Lithic Industry of the Itomiura Site in the Lower Angara Region (Neolithic and Bronze Ages)
The article presents the results of the analysis of the collection of the Itomiura site located in the Lower Angara region. As for today, no markers or concepts of stone industry dynamics in the Neolithic and Bronze Age have been described for the territory of the Lower Angara region. The materials of the Itomiura site allow us to define some of these concepts. Based on the spatial distribution of findings in the cultural layer of the site, we id…
Pottery Complexes of the Ust’-Kova Geoarcheological Area in the Lower Angara Region (Based on Materials of 2008–2011)
Purpose. As a result of preparations for the flooding of the Boguchan Hydroelectric Power Station reservoir bed, the Lower Angara region has witnessed increased activity as an archeological source base in recent years. It initiated the development of studies on the taxonomy of pottery traditions, both in the region and in adjacent territories, their chronology and interaction models. A number of informative archaeological sites at the estuary of …
