  • Hominid radius from the middle Pliocene of Lake Turkana, Kenya

    Open Access•Ronald E Heinrich, M D Rose et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1993•Cited by: 27•References: 27

A nearly complete left radius, KNM‐ER 20419, was recovered from middle Pliocene sediments east of Lake Turkana, Kenya in 1988. Ape‐like characteristics of the fossil include an eccentrically positioned articular fovea, relatively long radial neck, wide distal metaphysis, and large brachioradialis crest. The robustness of the radial neck in proportion to the radial head, and the semilunar shape of the distal diaphysis, however, clearly distinguish…

  • Postcranial specimens of Simiolus enjiessi and other primitive catarrhines from the early Miocene of Lake Turkana, Kenya

    Open Access•M D Rose, M G Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Evolution•1992•Cited by: 23•References: 31

  • The KNM-WT 17000 premolar

    Open Access•Frederick E Grine, Richard E Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Evolution•1991•Cited by: 1•References: 3

  • Morphology of Turkanapithecus kalakolensis from Kenya

    Open Access•Richard E Leakey, M G Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1988•Cited by: 17•References: 6

The type specimen of Turkanapithecus kalakolensis recently recovered from northern Kenya preserves a partial cranium and mandible. This specimen, together with postcranial elements that are probably associated with it, and two additional specimens are described. The collection is compared with other Miocene hominoids

  • Morphology of Afropithecus turkanensis from Kenya

    Open Access•Richard E Leakey, M G Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1988•Cited by: 52•References: 22

Forty‐six specimens of a large Miocene hominoid, Afropithecus turkanensis , recently recovered from northern Kenya preserve many morphological details that are described. The specimens include cranial, mandibular, and postcranial parts. They are compared briefly with other Miocene hominoids. It is suggested that Afropithecus may have affinities with Heliopithecus, Kenyapithecus , and the large hominoid from Moroto and Napak, although it is noted …

  • Further hominids from the Plio‐Pleistocene of Koobi Fora, Kenya

    Open Access•Richard E Leakey, R E F Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1985•Cited by: 72•References: 8

Fifty‐eight new fossil hominids from Plio‐Pleistocene sediments east of Lake Turkana, Kenya, are described. They include cranial, mandibular, dental, and postcranial parts. Some are illustrated

  • New hominids from East Turkana, Kenya

    Open Access•M H Day, Richard E Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1976•Cited by: 50•References: 8

Thirty‐five new fossil hominid specimens are described. They were recovered from the Plio‐Pleistocene sediments to the east of Lake Turkana (formerly Lake Rudolf). They include cranial and mandibular parts, teeth, and postcranial bones of upper and lower limbs. Parts of a single skeleton are also described. All of the specimens are described in anatomical detail and selected measurements are given. Some of the specimens are illustrated. It is pro…

  • New hominids from East Rudolf, Kenya, I

    Open Access•M H Day, Richard E Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1975•Cited by: 33•References: 3

Important new hominid fossils from the Plio‐Pleistocene sediments of Lake Rudolf, Kenya, are described. They include: a partial, adult cranium with most of the calvaria and some of the facial skeleton preserved; a complete right femur; and bones of a single left lower limb — femur and upper and lower parts of the tibia and a small portion of fibula. Detailed comparative descriptions will be published later

  • New australopithecines from East Rudolf, Kenya (III)

    Open Access•Richard E Leakey, R E F Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1973•Cited by: 11•References: 4

A further ten australopithecine specimens from the Plio‐Pleistocene deposits of East Rudolf, Kenya, are described. These include a fragmentary skull, several mandibles and two pieces of femur. Detailed comparative descriptions will be published later

  • New australopithecines from East Rudolf, Kenya (II)

    Open Access•Richard E Leakey, R E F Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1972•Cited by: 36•References: 5

Eleven new specimens of fossil hominids from the Plio‐Pleistocene sediments of Lake Rudolf, Kenya, are described. They include the following: two left mandibular bodies; parts of two right mandibular bodies; a massive mandible with partially preserved dentition and an almost complete right ascending ramus; a partial cranium with most of the right and parts of the left facial skeleton, the frontoparietal part of the calvaria, the right temporal bo…

  • New australopithecines from East Rudolf, Kenya

    Open Access•Richard E Leakey, R E F Leakey et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1971•Cited by: 26•References: 4

Five new specimens of fossil hominids, including a nearly complete cranium, from Plio‐Pleistocene sediments near Lake Rudolf, Kenya are described. These descriptions are presented without comparative data and no taxonomic assessments have been made to date. Detailed comparative descriptions will be published in due course
