Territorial variability of the Hisobi Mard time account in the Pamir region and Darvaz
For the first time in recent decades, a large-scale study of the Hisobi Mard or time counting by human body, which is a unique solar calendar known only in this region and lacking analogues in other cultures, has been conducted in the vast terri-tory of Pamir and Darvaz. As a result of the research, extensive body of materials has been collected allowing comparison of the knowledge of modern informants with the data collected by Soviet ethnograph…

Spatial Modeling of the Folk Astronomical Knowledge among the Residents of Tajikistan
The term "folk astronomical knowledge" refers to a set of practical knowledge that allows a person to navigate in space and time. An important point is the possibility of a total assessment of this knowledge not only at the level of an individual, but also at the level of a separate settlement or region. The authors developed a method for determining an indicator characterizing the level of folk astronomical knowledge, based on field materials co…
Звезды в жизни населения долины реки Зеравшан (Stars in the Life of the Population of the Zeravshan River Valley)
Modern Pamir house and calendar and astronomical views of the Pamiris
This paper presents the evolution of the Pamir house over the past 100 years since the explorations of the Russian ethnographer Mikhail S. Andreev took place. Despite the availability of the studies of the 1920s-1950s on the Tajik traditional dwelling (Pisarchik, 1958a; Voronina, 1951, 1975; review studies: Mamadnazarov, 1978; Muradov, 2021), the classical Andreev's work (1958), conducted in the valley of the Khuf River (Pamir), remains topical. …
Using the USSR General Staff maps to determine the geographical coordinates in archeology
The main problem of archaeological plans drawn in the mid-20th century is that almost all of them have poor accuracy of spatial localisation of objects. Simple estimates show that the error relatively to the actual position of the site can reach several hundred meters on the Earth surface. Because of this, only large, well-preserved ob-jects can be identified using archaeological plans. If the monument is small and poorly preserved, then it is im…
Astronomical Orientation of Architectural Monuments of Khorezm
The paper is aimed at studying the astronomical orientation of Khorezmic architectural monuments. By the term «astronomical orientation», the authors understand the alignment of the building elements with astronomically significant directions corresponding to the directions of the world, sunrise and/or sunset azimuths at solstices and azimuths of the rising/setting of the Moon at its northern and southern extremes. Analysis of the accuracy of mon…
