  • If we build it, will they come? Perspectives on pharmacy-based naloxone among family and friends of people who use opioids: A mixed methods study

Open Access•Susannah Slocum, Jenny E Ozga et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

Despite high levels of pharmacy naloxone access in Massachusetts, few bystanders in our study had attempted to obtain naloxone under the NSO. Low perceived risk of overdose, misinformation, stigma, and confidentiality were important barriers to pharmacy naloxone uptake, all of which are amenable to intervention. Support groups provided a setting for addressing stigma and misinformation and provided a discreet and comfortable setting for naloxone …

  • Writing historical archaeology

    Open Access•R A Joyce, Rosemary Joyce•CHAPTER•Cambridge Companion to Historical…•2006

The way that we write our archaeological accounts is as much constitutive of our field as are the questions we think are significant and the ways we think those questions should be addressed (Joyce 2002). In writing, we seek to persuade others of our understandings, and to evoke from them a response. Whether the response we get is affirmative or contests our arguments, it is in the reception of our writing that we see ourselves connected to other…

  • Girling the girl and boying the boy: The production of adulthood in ancient Mesoamerica

    R A Joyce, Rosemary Joyce•ARTICLE•World Archaeology•2000•Cited by: 117•References: 3

Drawing on the work of Judith Butler, I analyse practices through which lifecycle transitions were marked on the bodies of sixteenth-century Aztec children. Because the production of disciplined adults was socially so significant, it was also profoundly conservative. I examine implications of this ethnohistoric study for earlier societies that formed part of a Mesoamerican longue duree. The interpretation of archaeologically excavated material is…
