  • Using Vital Signs for the Early Prediction of Necrotizing Enterocolitis in Preterm Neonates with Machine Learning

Open Access•Rosa Verhoeven, Thijmen Kupers et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2024

Using vital signs, we predicted NEC in the first 5 postnatal days with an F1-score up to 0.82. Splanchnic and cerebral oxygenation were the most contributing vital predictors. This pioneering effort in early NEC prediction using vital signs underscores the potential for targeted preventive measures and also emphasizes the need for additional data in future studies

  • Cerebrovascular Autoregulation in Preterm Infants Using Heart Rate or Blood Pressure

    Open Access•Bineta E Lahr, Celina L Brunsch et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2024

In conclusion, HR and MABP do not seem interchangeable when assessing CAR in preterm infants

  • Early Cerebrovascular Autoregulation in Neonates with Congenital Heart Disease

    Open Access•Celina L Brunsch, Mirthe J Mebius et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2022

Neonates with congenital heart disease (CHD) display delayed brain development, predisposing them to impaired cerebrovascular autoregulation (CAR) and ischemic brain injury. For this paper, we analyzed the percentage of time with impaired CAR (%time impaired CAR) during the first 72 h after birth, the relation with clinical factors, and survival in 57 neonates with CHD. The primary outcome was a correlation coefficient of cerebral oxygenation (r …
