    Education in the United States has long been shaped by war metaphors that influence the emotional and relational life of classrooms. This paper draws on nonviolence as both a curricular and pedagogical response to confront and disarm such discursive violence.     Graduate students (who are also educators) sometimes make spontaneous statements regarding their religious identities. In making these declarations, they appear to invoke boundaries that exclude certain already marginalized groups.     As US colleges and universities incorporate an international requirement for undergraduate students, this study assesses the value of an online international documentary course. The effect of documentary viewing was evaluated using students' reflective essays, noting possible shifts in perspectives on international issues after film viewing.
