Knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward osteoporosis: A questionnaire survey
Background Osteoporosis is a prevalent yet often underdiagnosed condition that leads to significant morbidity and healthcare burdens. This study explores the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of the community-dwelling adults concerning osteoporosis and its daily management. Methods The cross-sectional study was conducted from June 1, 2024 to February 1, 2025 at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University and included outpatients …
The association between energy-adjusted dietary inflammatory index (E-DII) and lung cancer in 101,755 participants aged 55 years and above: A large prospective cohort
Our findings revealed a positive association between E-DII and lung cancer incidence among U.S. adults aged 55 years and older, particular in populations with higher smoking exposure, which suggesting dietary inflammatory potential may represent an important modifiable risk factor for lung cancer prevention. Furthermore, our analyses demonstrated that SCLC and NSCLC exhibit distinct inflammatory response patterns, indicating potential differences…
Health-related quality of life and its associated factors among high school students with myopia in China
Myopia has a non-negligible impact on the HRQoL among Chinese high school students. Age, sex, sitting posture, time of outdoor-activities, and glasses type were deemed as the associated factors of HRQoL

Can Skill Lead to Self-Transcendence in Zhuangzi
Many scholars have claimed that the skills depicted by Zhuangzi can lead to self-transcendence of experiencing and attaining the Dao. However, this view is open to question. Based on a comprehensive reading of the received text of Zhuangzi, this paper attempts a comprehensive reinterpretation of its allegories of skills, including "Cook Ding Butchering an Ox", "The Hunchback Catching Cicadas", "The Ferryman Handling a Boat", "The Man of Lüliang S…
Global hydrological models continue to overestimate river discharge
Global hydrological models (GHMs) are widely used to assess the impact of climate change on streamflow, floods, and hydrological droughts. For the ‘model evaluation and impact attribution’ part of the current round of the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP3a), modelling teams generated historical simulations based on observed climate and direct human forcings with updated model versions. Here we provide a comprehensive ev…
Three Integrations of Chinese and Western Aerobics Culture in Modern China
During the fight against Covid-19, online aerobics became a popular form of fitness in China. The integration of Chinese and Western aerobics cultures has occurred three times. The first was between traditional Chinese Daoyin and Western gymnastics, resulting in New Daoyin in the early 20 years of 20th century. The second was in 1950s, the early years of the People’s Republic of China when Broadcast Gymnastics was created by combining New Daoyin …
Relationships between surrogate measures of mechanical and psychophysiological load, patellar tendon adaptations, and neuromuscular performance in NCAA division I men's volleyball athletes
Introduction Patellar tendon adaptations occur in response to mechanical load. Appropriate loading is necessary to elicit positive adaptations with increased risk of injury and decreased performance likely if loading exceeds the capacity of the tendon. The aim of the current study was to examine intra-individual associations between workloads and patellar tendon properties and neuromuscular performance in collegiate volleyball athletes. Methods N…
Monitoring the Landscape Pattern and Characteristics of Non-Point Source Pollution in a Mountainous River Basin
This study aimed to assess the relationship between the landscape patterns and non-point source (NPS) pollution distribution in Qixia County, China. The sub-basin classification was conducted based on a digital elevation model and Landsat8 satellite images. Water samples were collected from each sub-basin, andtheir water quality during the wet and dry seasons was estimated. The correlation between the landscape indices and water pollution indicat…
Enhanced N2O Production Induced by Soil Salinity at a Specific Range
Nitrous oxide (N 2 O) as a by-product of soil nitrogen (N) cylces, its production may be affected by soil salinity which have been proved to have significant negative effect on soil N transformation processes. The response of N 2 O production across a range of different soil salinities is poorly documented; accordingly, we conducted a laboratory incubation experiment using an array of soils bearing six different salinity levels ranging from 0.25 …
Optimal Decision of Agricultural Machinery Product Quality under the Regulation of Government Subsidy Policy
Some studies have shown that financial subsidy can promote the technology or product innovation of enterprises, and then improve the product quality. However, in the market competition of subsidized and non-subsidized agricultural machinery products, it is of great practical significance to study whether the enterprises subsidized by the government will improve the product quality. Considering that government provides subsidies for agricultural m…

Water Salinity Should Be Reduced for Irrigation to Minimize Its Risk of Increased Soil N2O Emissions
To reveal the effect of irrigation salinity on soil nitrous oxide (N2O) emission, pot experiments were designed with three irrigation salinity levels (NaCl and CaCl2 of 1, 2.5 and 4 g/L equivalence, Ec = 3.6, 8.1 and 12.7 ds/m), either for 0 kg N/ha (N0) or 120 kg N/ha (N120) nitrogen inputs. N2O emissions from soils irrigated at different salinity levels varied in a similar pattern which was triggered by soil moisture dynamics. Yet, the magnitud…
Reducing Surface Wetting Proportion of Soils Irrigated by Subsurface Drip Irrigation Can Mitigate Soil N2O Emission
To reveal the impact of soil moisture distributions on nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from wet soils irrigated by sub-surface drip irrigation (SDI) with different surface soil wetting proportions, pot experiments were conducted, with surface irrigation (SI) as a control. Results indicated that irrigation triggered N2O pulsing effect in all SDI treatments, yet N2O values reduced with the decrease of surface soil wetting proportions of SDI irrigated…

Presurgical Stress Management Improves Postoperative Immune Function in Men With Prostate Cancer Undergoing Radical Prostatectomy
OBJECTIVE: To assess whether stress management (SM) improved immune outcomes in men undergoing surgery for prostate cancer. METHODS: A total of 159 men were assigned randomly to a two-session presurgical SM intervention, a two-session supportive attention (SA) group, or a standard care (SC) group. Men in the SM group discussed their concerns about the upcoming surgery and were taught diaphragmatic breathing, guided imagery; they had an imaginal e…

Magnetostratigraphic dating of the Donggutuo and Maliang Paleolithic sites in the Nihewan Basin, North China
A detailed magnetostratigraphic investigation, coupled with rock-magnetic studies, was carried out on a lacustrine sequence in the eastern Nihewan Basin, Northern China, which contains the Donggutuo and Maliang Paleolithic sites. Magnetite and hematite were identified as the main carriers for the characteristic remanent magnetizations. Magnetostratigraphic results show that the lacustrine sequence recorded the late Matuyama and Brunhes chrons. Fu…
