  • An Analysis of the Pore Distribution in Ceramic Vessels from the Akterek Burial Archeological Site Using Neutron Tomography Data

Open Access•M Kenessarin, Kuanysh Nazarov et al.•ARTICLE•Heritage•2025•References: 9

The spatial arrangement, size distribution, and shape of internal pores in several archaeological ceramic vessels from the Akterek burial site at Zhambyl District of Almaty Region, Republic of Kazakhstan were studied using neutron tomography. The internal pores were segmented from the obtained neutron data and the porosity value for the ancient ceramic samples was calculated. Analysis of the structural tomography data showed that the ceramic mate…

  • Alabaster Vessels from the Volna 1 Necropolis

Sergey Kichanov, Bulat Bakirov et al.•ARTICLE•Stratum plus Archaeology and…•2025

This article presents the results of the first stage of a comprehensive study of alabaster vessels from burials of the second to the early third quarter of the 5th to the second half of the 4th centuries BC of the Volna 1 necropolis (Taman Peninsula). A total of 7 alabaster vessels were found, including fragmented ones; whole forms belong to type A-1, and the time of their manufacture can be attributed, in general, to 460—435 BC. Samples of five …

  • The systematic structural studies of some Byzantine ceramic fragments from Dobrudja region of Romania

Open Access•Ayazhan Zh Zhomartova, Bekhzodjon A Abdurakhimov et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2024•References: 49

The systematic studies of composition and spatial distribution of main phases inside volume of 25 fragments of Byzantine ceramic obtained in archeological works in the Dobrudja region, Romania, have been performed using neutron diffraction and tomography, and Raman spectroscopy. The obtained structural data on the content of phases, the presence of calcite grains and pores, and the uniformity of phase spatial distribution made it possible to syst…

  • Study of the Chemical and Pb Isotope Composition in Dirhams from the Podbolotyevo Cemetery

    Open Access•Irina Saprykina, А В Чугаев et al.•ARTICLE•Nizhnevolzhskiy Arheologicheskiy…•2023

A series of silver dirhams and their imitations, originating from the burials of the Podbolotyevo burial ground left by the Muroma tribe, was studied by XRF, neutron diffraction and analysis of the isotopic composition using the Pb-Pb method. The burial ground is located near the city of Murom, Vladimir Region of Russia. The collection obtained from the excavations of this site includes finds of 40 original Arabic silver coins and silver coin rep…

  • The chemical composition analysis of the metal of the Coins and Rings from Frontovoye 3 Using the Methods of Neutron Structural Diagnostics

  • Golden Amulet-boxes and their Contents from the Excavations of the Roman Time Burial Ground Frontovoe 3

Irina Saprykina, Elzara Khairedinova et al.•ARTICLE•Stratum plus Archaeology and…•2022•Cited by: 1

This article is devoted to the results of a comprehensive study of the finds of three gold amulet-boxes with preserved contents from the excavations of the Roman time burial ground Frontovoe 3 (Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol). For amulets, an analysis of the chemical composition of gold was performed by XRF, and their structural elements were studied by neutron tomography (especially the soldered areas). Analysis of the internal contents, pre…

  • The Comprehensive Study of the Abashevo Battle Axe From the Malo-Kizilskoe Unfortified Settlement
