Study on the impact of big data sharing on individuals’ welfare—from the perspective of consumption and privacy
This paper constructs a macro-level theoretical framework, grounded in the theory of creative destruction, to explain how big data sharing affects individuals’ welfare from the perspectives of consumption and privacy. First, we treat data as a new type of production factor and endogenize it within the production function. We then propose an innovative view: individuals’ welfare is influenced by both the privacy cost of big data sharing and their …
Reflections on rural spatial construction based on place identity
With increasing urbanization, rural areas face challenges, such as the loss of local distinctiveness and weakened community identity among villagers. Reconstructing place identity has thus become pivotal to rural revitalization. By reviewing China’s century-long trajectory of rural construction, this study examines the evolution of rural identity from deconstruction to reconstruction. This study also highlights present critical issues, including …

Objective Poverty, as a profound social structural issue, affects not only individuals’ economic conditions but also their educational opportunities and social mobility. This study explores how CEOs’ early‐life poverty experiences influence their firms’ commitment to education‐related philanthropy. Method Using manually collected data from Chinese listed firms between 2016 and 2020, we conduct multivariate regression analysis. To address potentia…
PtrLAC16 plays a key role in catalyzing lignin polymerization in the xylem cell wall of Populus
Plant laccases have been proposed to participate in lignin biosynthesis. However, there is no direct evidence that individual laccases in Populus can polymerize lignin monomers and alter cell wall structure. Here, a Populus laccase, PtrLAC16, was expressed and purified in a eukaryotic system. Enzymatic analysis of PtrLAC16 showed that it could polymerize lignin monomers in vitro. PtrLAC16 preferred sinapyl alcohol, and this preference is associat…
