    Open Access•Vyacheslav P Glebov, Anton Dedyulkin•ARTICLE•Nizhnevolzhskiy Arheologicheskiy…•2025

The article discusses the funeral complexes of the elites of the nomads from various regions of Sarmatia of the 2nd – 1st centuries BC. • God, Hero, King? Imagery of 'Pearson Wearing Helmet' on the Coins of Seleukos I

Anton Dedyulkin, Svyatoslav Smirnov•ARTICLE•Stratum plus Archaeology and…•2024

The paper analyses the iconography and archaeology of the Seleucid 'Nike crowning trophy' coin type. This coin type features a deified male portrait (referred to as the 'person wearing helmet') on the obverse and Nike, crowning a trophy, on the reverse. It was minted for a brief period in the late 4th century BC at the Susa mint. Despite being locally circulated with a relatively limited volume of issues, this motif significantly contributed to t…

Open Access•Nadezhda Anatol'evna Nalimova, Anton Dedyulkin et al.•ARTICLE•Actual Problems of Theory and…•2021

This paper offers an attempt to interpret the Classical and Hellenistic ceremonial armaments as constructed artistic images. It concentrates on a group of luxurious armor of the 4th–3rd centuries B.C., which represents or imitates anatomical details, both real and fantastic, as well as clothing and jewelry (e.g. the helmets of the so-called Conversano group, the cuirass from Laos). This characteristic suggests the idea of a certain mythological t…

Open Access•Vyacheslav P Glebov, OOO Archaeological Research Bureau et al.•ARTICLE•Nizhnevolzhskiy Arheologicheskiy…•2020

There are different points of view regarding the date of the appearance of the early Sarmatian archaeological culture of the 2nd – 1st centuries BC within the Lower Don region. However, most researches have been of the view that the Lower Don region and the Northeastern Black Sea region were developed by the Sarmatians relatively late, namely not earlier than the second half of the 2nd century BC. The main objective of this study is to define the…

  • Silver Kithara from Old Nisa

    Anton Dedyulkin•ARTICLE•Vostok Afro-Aziatskie obshchestva…•2020

The article covers attribution problems of the silver artifact, which was discovered in the so-called “Big Square House” (probably a treasure house) in the course of the excavations at Old Nisa. Old Nisa was the fortress that bore the name “Fortress of Mithradates” (Parth. Mithradatkirt) in the ancient times. The common opinion is that the silver artifact is the parade hatchet, which could have been produced in the Greco-Iranian culture milieu of…
