  • Morphotectonic Evaluation of Sirch Mountains Using Water Basin Geomorphic Indices

Open Access•Nafise HOSEINI, Shahram Shafiei Bafti et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development of…•2021

Morphotectonic indices are useful instruments for investigating the effect of tectonic activity in a certain region. Calculation of these indicators using the advantages of Geographical Information System, GIS, in a large area is useful for detecting potential disorders related to active tectonics. This method is useful in regions on which few morphotectonic studies have been conducted. An example of such areas can be the watersheds of the Sirch …

  • Possible Influence of a Major Inferred Fault on the Occurrence of Sinistral Top-to-the Nw Deformation in the Zagros Hinterland Fold-and-Thrust Belt, Iran

Open Access•Mohammad Ali Ghanbarian, Reza Derakhshani et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development of…•2021

In the present study, fault slip data, the geometry of en-echelon vein arrays (tension gash), and pressure-solution seams (stylolites), in the northeastern margin of Fars Province were analyzed. The results of this study indicate that in the time of the development of these structures, the maximum principal (σ1) stress axes were generally horizontal and directed towards NE-SW and ENE-WSW. This general direction is compatible with the expected dir…

  • Tracking Climatic Changes Using Glacial Traces and Evidence at Hezar Mountain, Iran

Open Access•Ali Mehrabi, Sadegh Sadegh et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development of…•2020

Although the current situation of the Iran’s land and the dominance of arid and semiarid conditions cast a doubt on the existence of glacier reign in this land, there is evidence of geomorphological traces of glaciers in different areas of Iran indicating the function of glaciers in these regions. Therefore, regarding these traces and evidences, the past climatic conditions can be reconstructed. Based on what mentioned above, this study mainly ai…

  • A Morphotectonic Survey on Golpayegan Watershed Using Ahp Method in Gis Environment

Open Access•Davood BIRJANDI, Reza Derakhshani et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development of…•2020

Understanding the reasons for land use change over time is necessary for optimal planning and management of urban areas. Identification of alterations and the patterns they reflect allows prediction of future changes, and appropriate planning can then be undertaken. In the last two decades, the city of Kerman, Iran, has gone through several identifiable changes, including significant increases in its urban population and growth of its urban resid…

  • Land Use Changes Monitoring Over 30 Years and Prediction of Future Changes Using Multi-Temporal Landsat Imagery and the Land Change Modeler Tools in Rafsanjan City (Iran)

Open Access•Ali Mehrabi, Mostafa KHABAZI et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development of…•2019

The purpose of this study is predicting and modeling of future changes in the Rafsanjan area, using remote sensing and GIS. The multispectral satellite data obtained from Landsat 5 (TM), 7 (ETM+) and 8 (OLI) for the years 1986, 1992, 1998, 2004, 2010 and 2016, were used respectively. The supervised classification technique was applied to multitemporal Landsat images. Rafsanjan city was classified into four major LU classes including urban areas, …

  • Investigation of the Tectonic Activity of Bazargan Mountain in Iran

Open Access•Rahime RAHBAR, Shahram Shafiei Bafti et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development of…•2017

In this paper, the neotectonic activity of Bazargan Mountain located in NNW of Kerman City in the central part of Iran has been analysed and mapped by a new method using the tectonic features available in the region. The method that has been used in this research is based on the potentials of Geographical Information System (GIS) and Fishnet model. In this study, the data have been extracted from topographical maps, aerial photographs, Google Ear…
