  • Cueva de El Toro (Antequera, Malaga-Spain)

Open Access•Maria Dolores Camalich, Ramón Buxó et al.•ARTICLE•Documenta Praehistorica•2004

The occupation evidence shown by the cave El Toro, is that of a unique stockbreeding community in the Andalusian region. The calibrated dates for this occupation period go from the second quarter of the sixth millennium up to the second millennium BP. There is also evidence of occasional occupation throughout later millennia up to the Hispano-Muslim period. The nature of thisoccupation is determined by the close link between the cave and the comm…

  • Fragmentation Analysis of Animal Bone Samples From Archaeological Sites

    Open Access•J P N Watson•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•1972•Cited by: 8•References: 4

S Frequency distributions of the lengths of the bone fragments are plotted for a number of archaeological sites. Down to a certain critical length, the distributions prove to be very similar for all the sites. Below this length, failure to recover fragments during excavation becomes the predominant factor and the frequencies decline. Distributions of diagnostic bones of sheep/goat, pig and cattle are plotted separately and the preferential recove…
