  • Isolation and characterization of mucilage from Basella Alba leaves

    Open Access•Shailesh B Patil, Kailaspati P Chittam et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Health…•2022

Mucilages are polysaccharide complexes formed from sugar and uronic acid units. Mucilages form slimy masses in water, are typically heterogeneous in composition. Mucilages are the byproduct of metabolism, originated and stored in the plant as a part of the plant cell. The leaves of Basella alba contain a high proportion of mucilage and it also being used for different therapeutic purposes. The present study was planned to isolate and characterize…

  • Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal evaluation of bark extracts of Sesbania grandiflora L

    Open Access•Kailaspati P Chittam, Shailesh B Patil et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Health…•2022

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the antibacterial and antifungal activity of bark extracts of Sesbania grandiflora L. The antibacterial screening was done by Paper disc method and antifungal screening by Disc Diffusion method using pet ether, chloroform, aqueous and methanolic extracts. The results showed strong potential of both the activity of methanolic extracts as compared with that of the other extract
