  • Stratigraphy and volcano-structural evolution of the Montiferru Volcanic Complex, Sardinia

    Open Access•Costantino Pala, S Naitza et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2026

The Montiferru Volcanic Complex in Sardinia (Italy) records a complex interplay of volcanic cycles and sedimentation but lacks a comprehensive geological framework. Here we present a new 1:50.000 scale volcano-structural map defining twelve unconformity-bounded stratigraphic units that delineate Miocene to Pleistocene volcanic and sedimentary phases, including caldera-forming eruptions, dome field formation, flank collapses, and monogenetic activ…

  • Geology of late-Variscan Sàrrabus pluton (south-eastern Sardinia, Italy)

    Open Access•F Secchi, S Naitza et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2021

This paper deals with the geological mapping of the late-Variscan Sàrrabus pluton, (south-eastern Sardinia), a shallow multiple and composite igneous complex dominated by several generations of granodiorites, metaluminous and peraluminous granites and repeated pulses of mantle-derived mafic magmas. The map has been compiled based on geological surveys at 1:10,000 and 1:5,000 scales, assisted by in situ gamma-ray spectrometry and detailed petrogra…

  • Structural and metallogenic map of late Variscan Arbus Pluton (SW Sardinia, Italy)

    Open Access•Stefano Cuccuru, S Naitza et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2016

This paper presents the geological, structural and metallogenic map of the Arbus Pluton, a late Variscan composite intrusion belonging to the Corsica-Sardinia Batholith. The pluton is surrounded and crosscut by a wide variety of vein ore deposits. The Arbus Pluton was emplaced at shallow crustal levels at the end of the Variscan Orogeny, along an E–W trending shear zone located in the low-grade external nappe pile of the Sardinian basement. The a…

  • The geological and metallogenic map of the Baccu Locci mine area (Sardinia, Italy)

    Open Access•Antonio Funedda, S Naitza et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2011

Please click here to download the map associated with this article. The study area is in the nappe zone of the Sardinian Variscides in the southeast part of the Island of Sardinia (Italy), and extends between 39°33′14′′/9°30′14′′ (NW corner) and 39°30′09′′/9°35′36′′ (SE corner). The area shows a section of the Variscan orogen in Sardinia with three tectonic units that were stacked and folded during the Middle Carboniferous Variscan tectonics. The…
