  • Deformation partitioning in the mid- to deep sheared crust of the Variscan Fautea-Favone metamorphic complex (southern Corsica, France)

Open Access•Francesca Amabile, Chiara Frassi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2025

The Variscan basement in Corsica (France) is exposed as scattered metamorphic complexes preserved in the late Permian batholith in the south-western sector of the island. We present the first tectono-metamorphic map (at 1:10000 scale) of the Variscan high-grade metamorphic complex exposed in one of these complexes in the Fautea-Favone area (south-eastern Corsica). Our geological mapping distinguished the Fautea Migmatitic Complex (FMC), to the so…

  • Superposed syn-metamorphic structures of the Alpine and pre-Alpine convergent cycles in the Southalpine basement of the Orobic Alps (Northern Italy)

Open Access•Gisella Rebay, Marco Maroni et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2015

New detailed maps of two key areas of the Southalpine basement unravel the superposition of pre-Alpine deformation stages associated with different metamorphic imprints, and distinguish Alpine thrust and fold structures involving basement and Permian-Mesozoic sedimentary cover. Basement rocks consist of metasediments (micaschists, quartzites and paragneisses) and metagranitoids and cover rocks comprise Permian volcanics and sediments. The boundar…
