  • Intersexuality In The Arctic Isopod Mesidotea (=Saduria) Sibirica

    Open Access•R E Korczynski•ARTICLE•ARCTIC•1985

An intersex individual of the isopod Mesidotea sibirica was found among 50 specimens taken from collections obtained in Pauline Cove, Herschel Island, Yukon Territory, in the summer of 1975. This is the first such intersex form reported for M. sibirica. Intersexuality has not been reported previously among isopods of the genus Mesidotea

  • An Enigmatic Protozoan Infection in the Isopod Mesidotea (=Saduria) sibirica from Herschel Island

    Open Access•R E Korczynski•ARTICLE•ARCTIC•1985

The benthic isopod Mesidotea (=Saduria) sibirica from the Herschel Island waters, Yukon Territory, was found to be internally infected with an extracellular protozoan parasite of uncertain identity. The infection is systemic. This is the first reported incidence of an infection in the isopod population in the Herschel Island waters.Key words: isopod, Mesidotea, Saduria, sibrica, protozoan infection, parasite, Herschel Island
