  • Granite landscapes and their relationship with Soils in the agreste paraibano region (Brazil)

Open Access•Bianca Feliciano de Melo, Ailson de Lima Marques et al.•ARTICLE•Cuadernos de Educación y Desarrollo•2025

This study investigates how horizontal granite outcrops shape adjacent soils in Esperança, Paraíba (Borborema Plateau, NE Brazil). Field GPS mapping of outcrops was combined with relief analysis (TOPODATA/INPE) and soil description/classification to the 2nd categorical level of WRB, supported by IBGE soil maps and geopedological cartography in QGIS. Three soil reference groups dominate: Neosols (Litholic and Regolithic) together cover ~80% of the…

  • Landscape evolution models and the genesis of the Borborema plateau (NE) Brazil

Open Access•Ailson de Lima Marques, Bianca Feliciano de Melo et al.•ARTICLE•Cuadernos de Educación y Desarrollo•2025

The Borborema Plateau is a region that exemplifies many of the classical concepts and theories of landscape evolution, including the Geographic Cycle and the Pediplanation Theory. However, its geological history is complex and multifaceted, influenced not only by erosional processes but also by tectonic events and climatic factors. A detailed study of this region is crucial for understanding its evolution and the diversity of landscapes that cons…

  • Soil-landscape and paleoenvironmental evidence in Serra do Teixeira National Park (Brazil)

Open Access•Ailson de Lima Marques, Bianca Feliciano de Melo et al.•ARTICLE•Cuadernos de Educación y Desarrollo•2025

We characterize the Pico do Jabre (PB, Brazil) toposequence and soil–landscape catena. On gently undulating terrain (~900–950 m), Ferralsol patches at the summit grade laterally into Acrisol/Cambisol on the midslope; Leptosol/Regosol occupy summit/shoulder and footslope and lack B horizons. Nodules occur in all B horizons; concretions only in the ferralic B; charcoal is absent. The relative dominance of goethite over hematite and downslope percol…
