  • Reuse in dynamic life cycle assessment at building scale

Open Access•Katrien Devos, Katarina Slavković et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Industrial Ecology•2025

Standardized life cyclestudy assessment (LCA) commonly treats buildings as static systems operating under fixed conditions, thereby neglecting the inherently dynamic nature of their long life cycles. In response, dynamic life cycle assessment (DLCA) has emerged as an approach that incorporates potential future changes by addressing the absence of temporal, spatial, and other context‐specific variables. Although various forms of dynamism have been…

  • Life Out Of Place

Open Access•Hanne Cottyn, Lionel Devlieger et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropocenes – Human Inhuman…•2023

This introduction begins at the Bruges 2018 Triennial Liquid City, where the research and design collective Rotor, the Ghent Centre for Global Studies, and Anna L. Tsing organised an interdisciplinary workshop on the trajectories of displaced species. Looking back to the collaborative reflection that emerged during the workshop, and the pandemic since, this special issue recalls invasive species from within the broader field of multispecies resea…

  • The Crab at the End of the World

    Open Access•Lionel Devlieger•ARTICLE•Anthropocenes – Human Inhuman…•2023

The Chinese Mitten Crab, a freshwater crab species originating from China, was accidentally introduced in Europe in the early 20th century when Western steamers, returning from China, emptied their ballast water tanks in German harbours. From there, in the course of the last century, the species gradually colonized the coastlines of the North Sea and the Atlantic southwards, but also much of the rest of the world. This visual essay is based upon …

    Open Access•Corinne Torrekens, Lionel Devlieger•ARTICLE•Brussels Studies•2016

    Open Access•Didier Baudewyns, Lionel Devlieger•ARTICLE•Brussels Studies•2016

Het a…
