Vorlesungen über die Ästhetik
In 1819, 1825, and 1832–33, Schleiermacher gave lectures on aesthetics at the Berlin University. For Schleiermacher, aesthetics is a crucial discipline that emerges from ethics, with multiple correlations to religion. His philosophy of art is related to contemporary positions of classical German philosophers and refers back in some respects to his early Romantic views

This volume commences the second part of Schleiermacher’s translations of Plato, which henceforth turns to the theory of ideas in physics and ethics. The dialogues are presented with the texts of the translations of the 1 st and 2 nd edition including Schleiermacher’s introductions and notes, the Greek original, and, most notably, substantial material from the manuscripts documenting Schleiermacher’s preliminary work on the dialogues
Joseph Fawcett, Predigten Mungo Park, Reisen im Innern von Afrika
In 1798, Schleiermacher translated two volumes of Joseph Fawcett’s 1795 sermons from the English. The text is presented synoptically. In 1799, together with Henriette Herz, Schleiermacher translated Mungo Park’s report from the same year on the discovery of the Niger River, titled Travels in the Interior of Africa . The text translated by Schleiermacher himself is presented synoptically, with the rest in German version only
