  • Learning and vulnerability to phonological and semantic interference in normal aging

    M-J Chasles, Marie‐Joëlle Chasles et al.•ARTICLE•Memory•2023

This study compares semantic and phonological interference vulnerability across the full range of learning processes. Method: 43 controls aged 61–88 underwent a neuropsychological examination, French adaptation of the LASSI-L, and an experimental phonological test, the TIP-A. Paired sample t-tests, factorial ANOVA and hierarchical regressions were conducted, psychometric properties were calculated. Results: TIP-A efficiently generated phonologica…

  • Solidarity, not charity

    Open Access•Oli Mould, J Cole et al.•ARTICLE•Transactions of the Institute of…•2022•Cited by: 36•References: 76

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly ruptured our global society. We have seen health care systems, governments and commerce buckle under the strain of disease, lockdowns and unrest, but the rupture has also created space for radical (and anarchist) politics of mutual aid, as societal organising principles, to move into a more prominent position (and offers potential for this shift to remain after the crisis has subsided). However, in the shor…

  • Unhealthy geopolitics? Bordering disease in the time of coronavirus

    Open Access•J Cole, Klaus Dodds•ARTICLE•Geographical Research•2021•Cited by: 13•References: 45

COVID-19 is highlighting and exposing how public health and geopolitics intersect across spaces, scales, and settings. Existing literature focuses on the geopolitical determinants of health such as the allocation of foreign health-related assistance in postcolonial spaces and the relationship between population health and the health impacts of exploiting resources for economic benefit. How populist nationalism shapes public reactions to disease h…

  • The Campus Wells Program

J Cole, Jennifer Rivers Cole•ARTICLE•Case Studies in the Environment•2017

I used existing groundwater monitoring wells in the Back Bay area of Boston, MA as an effective way to teach the applied aspects of integrating the natural world with the built environment. These wells were installed as part of engineering studies for construction and rehabilitation of campus buildings, and through their use in laboratory exercises, undergraduate students developed valuable, field-based insight into the physical meaning of enviro…

  • Climate change and drought

    Open Access•Nigel W Arnell, N Arnell et al.•ARTICLE•Disaster Prevention and…•2006

Climate change is likely to increase drought risk during the 21 st century in many parts of the world. Climate model projections, under a range of emissions scenarios, consistently show that seasonal rainfall is likely to decrease across large parts of southern Europe, north Africa, central Asia and southern Africa, and reductions are also possible in other dry parts of the world. The effects of climate change, however, will be superimposed on th…
