  • Housing and income effects on HIV-related health outcomes in the San Francisco Bay Area – findings from the SPNS transwomen of color initiative

    Erin C Wilson, C Turner et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2018

Transwomen of color are disproportionately impacted by HIV and may have worse health outcomes than other populations. This analysis was conducted to examine structural factors associated with poor health outcomes among transwomen of color living with HIV in the San Francisco Bay Area (N = 159). Univariate and multivariable analyses were conducted to determine if structural factors were associated with poor HIV-related health outcomes. A majority …

  • Randomized Controlled Trial of Audio Computer-assisted Self-Interviewing: Utility and Acceptability in Longitudinal Studies

David S Metzger, Beryl A Koblin et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Epidemiology•2000

Recent studies have reported on the utility of audio computer-assisted self-interviewing (ACASI) in surveys of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) risk behaviors that involve a single assessment. This paper reports the results of a test of ACASI within a longitudinal study of HIV risk behavior and infection. Study participants (gay men (n = 1,974) and injection drug users (n = 903)) were randomly assigned to either ACASI or interviewer-administere…

    Open Access•D G Buckley, H Major et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the Prehistoric…•1988•Cited by: 6•References: 4

Aerial survey in Essex has revealed a number of elongated enclosures interpreted as either long barrows or mortuary enclosures of Neolithic date. Excavation of one of these sites at Rivenhall in 1986 produced finds of flintwork and pottery which help to substantiate this hypothesis. A surface collection survey of the field containing the enclosure produced Mesolithic and Neolithic flintwork. A short discussion considers the Essex sites in their w…

  • An Approach to the Study of Bureaucracy

    Open Access•C R Hinings, D S Pugh et al.•ARTICLE•Sociology•1967•Cited by: 10•References: 9

Sociology needs precise, comparative, reliable data. This requires the splitting down of unitary 'grand' concepts into operationally defined variables, fashioned to attack particular problems, and amenable to multivariate statistical analysis. This approach can be exemplified in the study of bureaucracy by the development of scaleable dimensions of organization structure such as specialization. This concept has been operationally defined, and a c…
