  • Electromyographic Study of Lower Limb Muscles of the Human Erect Posture under Voluntary Postural Sway, Weight or Push

    Open Access•Mamoru TOMITA•ARTICLE•The Journal of Anthropological…•1979

Six adult males and thirteen adult females were used as subjects, and activities of thigh and leg muscles were recorded on electromyogram, while subjects performed horizontal sway (forward, backward, leftward or rightward) or rotation (left or right) and vertical postural change (half-rising, squatting or standing on tip-toe) and also they took weights (6kg x 2) by hands or were given horizontal push force on chest, on back or on a shoulder.Human…

  • Principal Pattern of the Dynamic Change in the Force of Human Foot during Walking

Open Access•Banri Endo, Akira Takahashi et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Anthropological…•1969

The dynamic force exerted by the foot to the level floor in walking was analysed in the present study. A special dynamometer was devised for the purpose. Ten subjects were examined during several kinds of walking. Changes in the sagittal, transverse and vertical components of the foot force and the shift of its point of application during the stance phase are recorded along with the postural change of the subject taken with the 16mm cine-camera.F…

  • Electromyographic Studies on Facial Muscles of Japanese-American Hybrids

Open Access•Shiro Kondo, Masahiko Sato et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Anthropological…•1968

    [in Japanese]

  • A Study on the Movement Pattern of Four Limbs in Walking

    Open Access•Mamoru TOMITA•ARTICLE•The Journal of Anthropological…•1967

Electromyographic recordings of many muscles in four limbs while man or dog was walking were made using surface electrode technique. The results are summarized and illustrated in Fig. 4 (dog) and in Fig. 6 (man). Electromyograms got by using electroencephalograph while man was walking are also shown in Fig. 7 and 8.The activity duration of retractors is longer than that of protractors except leg muscles. Some discussion was made on the complete o…

  • A Study on the Movement Pattern of Four Limbs in Walking [1]

    Open Access•Mamoru TOMITA•ARTICLE•The Journal of Anthropological…•1967

    1. The author using 8mm cinecamera (48 or 64 frames per second) observed the movement sequence of four limbs of many mammals while they were walk-ing on all fours. In the slow motion picture, protraction or retraction of each limb was confirmed and the movement sequence of all four limbs was combined. The walking type of many mammals commonly seen in the zoo was "backward cross type" as shown in Fig. 1, but many monkeys showed completely differen…

  • On the Movement Order of Four Limbs while walking and the Body Weight Distribution to Fore and Hind Limbs while Standing on all Fours in Monkeys

Open Access•Mitsuo Iwamoto, Mamoru TOMITA•ARTICLE•The Journal of Anthropological…•1966

Movement sequence of four limbs of monkeys while walking on all fours, as shown in Fig. 2, is quite different from that of most other mammals shown in Fig.1. These two different kinds of walking type were schematically illustrated and named by the authors in Figs 1 and 2 which show that each limb (LF-left fore limb, RF-right fore limb, LH-left hind limb. RH-right hind limb) moves one after another according to the arrows. In connection with this, …
