(Foot)notes on Cisnormativity and Feminism
1. This work is the result of a careful reading that centers and pays close attention to the “marginal” zones of contemporary feminist production in Argentina, primarily to the footnotes. Too often, these are considered irrelevant for understanding the general meaning of the work, mere formal clarifications, necessary for writing but dispensable for reading. For this reason they tend to occupy minor positions in the geography of texts, have a dif…
On Trans Philosophy's Methods
In this written dialogue, four trans philosophers remix and expand on a panel discussion held at the 2025 Thinking Trans//Trans Thinking Conference that explored the pressing issue of trans philosophy's methods, building on an ongoing discussion in the literature. The panel and this text represent an extended and ongoing discussion between the authors. The authors are committed to neither methodological uniformity nor systematicity. Nevertheless,…
Violations of Argumentation Standards in Contemporary Debates on Health and Reproductive Rights
This article presents an exercise in prebunking, a preventive strategy based on inoculation theory (McGuire, 1964), aimed at enhancing cognitive resistance to misinformation. The analysis examines a set of arguments articulated from prejudicial and false information circulating in the debate on the inclusion of trans people in the field of reproductive health and rights. Through an assessment of their underlying premises, logical coherence, and e…
Trends in psychosocial research on LGBTIQ+ populations in Latin America: Findings, challenges, and concerns
Psychosocial research on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ+) populations from Latin America is relatively recent. Initially, research focused mainly on prejudice, using qualitative techniques. Studies on LGBTIQ+ populations, using more sophisticated psychosocial theories such as those of Herek or Meyer, began in the mid‐1990s. This study deals with surveys and scales based on non‐probabilistic samples, LGBTIQ+ popul…
Avoiding hetero/cissexist bias in psychological research: A contribution from latin America
This theoretical paper seeks to reflect on hetero/cissexist bias and how it could influence scientific papers and research on sexual diversity in the field of psychology. First, the paper defines and describes core concepts in this area, particularly, the notion of bias. Next, some of the most salient problems in this field are outlined, particularly the one concerning homo and transsexuality pathologization. Finally, some recommendations conside…
Gender punitivism: Queer perspectives on identity politics in criminal justice
The article examines the convergence of identity politics and punitivism, two tendencies that profoundly affect current LGBT activism and state criminal policies. It considers the case of Argentina, a country often deemed exemplary in terms of gender-related legislation, and analyses a 2018 sentence that incorporates the concept of ‘travesticide’ in order to examine how the role of identity in political strategies, added to prevailing notions of …
Current Challenges of North/South Relations in Gay-Lesbian and Queer Studies
The article assesses and analyzes different dimensions of the current configuration of North/South dialogues within gay-lesbian and queer studies, with particular attention to the interrelations between the United States and South America. It looks into how gay-lesbian and queer studies relate to the global division and hierarchy of intellectual labor traditionally embedded in academic practices, and it asks whether the scope of its radical progr…

The first section offers a brief introduction to trans* studies, highlighting some key aspects in relation to an epistemology rooted in philosophical reflection. The second section presents some of the main critiques trans* scholars …
